I know I saw somewhere somebody weighed the 202x MACH 1 handling package birds nest wheels. Can’t find now.

I know I saw somewhere. I don’t remember if it’s in this form or some other car form to do any of you know what the 2022 MACH one Hanley package wheels weigh a piece I’m trying to decide what kind of improvements I can get between my stock handling package wheels versus a set of Apex wheels that are like 20.5 pounds apiece. Also trying to figure out how much I get in both the rotational weight and then also the unsprung weight. I don’t know where it’s I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth spending about $5400+ or not wheels and tires.
Also, is there really any big difference in the TPMS sensors? Are some much better longevity, more accurate, lighter, more resistant to corrosion over the ones that Apex cells? Same for wheel studs.
thank you.

OEM HP MACh1 wheels are close to 40 lbs each! I bought a set of replica wheels 19x10's squared that are about 27 lbs each. I didn't notice any real difference on the street! I used the OEM TPS....no need for studs!

This right here. These wheels are too sexy, if you are concerned about the weight I would go for this replicas to lower some of that weight.

The Apex wheel will save you at least 15lbs if not 20lbs per wheel. SVE (via LMR) makes a replica set that is much lighter than stock as well. Stock wheels are just heavy unfortunately.

Aren't you planning to track your car? If so, then lighter wheels are good IF you have another good reason to justify the purchase. For example, you want a second set for winter, or vacay drives, or want to go square, etc.

You didn't specify if you have HP option (although I see you post a lot, so I'm sure you specified elsewhere).

But if it was me in your situation, and I had OEM wheels and Cup 2 tires on with enough life left for track days, I would
  1. wear those out on track,
  2. THEN get a square setup of Apex wheels (or LMR etc) for track days, and
  3. repurpose your heavy OEM wheels for summer tires (good for track rain days, too) or
  4. skin them with A/S tires for daily and longer life than summer tires.
While implementing my brilliant scheme, you have time to shop for someone else's "change of mind" rims + tires and save a bundle. I bought a set of new square Apex 11' rims from a 6g member and I put people's Cup 2 take-offs on them for tracking.

Confession: I have THREE sets of wheels for my daily + track car.
  1. Square A/S tires on 8.5" OEM rims,
  2. Square summer tires on 9.5" O.Z rims,
  3. Square 305 (or 315) Cup 2 tires on Apex 11" rims.

What do you find the difference to be between the 305 squared set up and the 315 squared set up? Traction handling, etc. plus does the 315 Rub on brake lines or any place else? Do you have to do some kind of extreme camber?
thank you

I bought two sets of Mach1 Cup 2 takeoffs. I combined them into two square sets - 4x305 and 4x315. I haven't run the 315's yet.

As for clearance, I have about 1/4" to the strut with the 305's. This is with 1" spacer and really long studs. I expect to have the same clearance with the 315's because the tire offset at the bead is the same. IOW, since the rim will "squeeze" the tire a bit more with the 315, the rim bead still dictates the clearance between the tire and strut. (Not explaining very well.)

There is not as much room up front on the GT as with the GT350. I slotted my struts to get another degree of negative camber, and the 3.6deg is needed to have some clearance between the tire and fender. But that is a good camber for the Cup 2 tire.

You can find a 5-part series on some of this stuff under my username in the DIY section.

Are you guys pulling my leg about the handling package/bird nest Wheels being 40 pounds or so approximately?
what are they made of cheap pot metal? just seems awful heavy compared to the Apex Wheels literally being almost twice as heavy.

Does any company make a tire for our cars that can be rotated from the right side to the left side and vice versa so that you can get more life out of them? I just now talked to Tire Rack and made it didn’t have anything that you could rotate from one side of the other.
