I just picked up a set of wheels that were made for the Gt350 from HRE. I gained a lot of knowledge from this forum on the offsets, width and overall look of the set up. I’m waiting to put the wheels on but here is a quick snapshot of the wheel with an R spec. I’ll take more pics once they are on the car.

I will stay with the OE wheels. In retrospect, for me it makes no sense to change wheels. I average between 25k to 30k miles a year driving. With this being the final year of production for the GT350, the investment makes no sense. I am already at the 13K threshold in the first month of ownership. I have a 6K trip planned for the end of Nov. Turkey day in Denver followed by a post turkey day in San Francisco.

WOW you drive your car :like:. I'll be lucky if I put 3000kms on mine this year...

Good choice on sticking with the factory wheels over the miss matched setup. I somehow think ford might know what they're doing when they choose a wheel/tire combo.

That said I too would consider replacing my wheels.. but with something better than factory, not cool looking china made junk that needs 2 pound weights to balance, with generic "fits most vehicles" sizing. Personally I'd be going to signature or someone comparable.

cheers

Mileage is the reason I backed off on doing FI. Living as I do south of the Dallas-Ft Worth metro area, the car never sees rush hour traffic. I want this car to last for a long time.

I do have to say that I bet you’d noticeably appreciate the difference in lighter wheels.

That being said, Forgestar has R-spec wheels in 19” and I’m sure they have fitments in 20” for not much dinero... ask me how I know.

I had a set of R-specs on my R.

Dude, I have always said this also. Even though you can do better, obviously, when it comes to factory sizes, offset, and appearance, Ford hit it out of the park on this thing.

I agree with this statement for the tires only.
Manufactures are notorious for cutting corners with products that go to the masses. If you want better quality, you need to pay for it, Ford and others just won’t do it 100%. Wheels are almost an afterthought for manufacturers. They do use quality materials in the manufacturing process and I suspect that’s a liability call above anything. Don’t want a wheel blowing apart just for hitting a small pot hole.
I can go on and on but I’ll end here.

You hit it on the head when you said you have to pay for it.... generic (aka affordable) wheels from the aftermarket are inferior to the factory wheels in all respects.. and are not going to perform as well as the stockers.
The problem is for 99.9% or car owners the upgrade of a $5000 set of wheels vs what you lose with cheap junk would probably go unnoticed because actual seat of the pants performance gains/losses will be almost non existent....

@The Rooster , most gravitate from the OE wheels more for looks than performance. Only a dedicated track rat would base a purchase on weight.

You are absolutely correct. I have seen people leave perfect OE wheels at a wheel shop because they don’t want to mess with them. The shop puts them on eBay for $1000-2000 and they get sold pronto. Dealerships even do it. OE wheels for the most part are pretty expensive. People just don’t think about it. Another dirty little secret...try replacing a totaled aftermarket wheel 2+ years down the road. You’ll discover real quick they are no longer made.

Now leaving them behind is nuts. The Ford wheels on our cars are around $1k ea. I priced one just for grins.
