you've been very helpful. just got it figured out and cap started to come off...will wait til I get take offs as well. black hard to find. have an xclnt painter who did hood vents.I took them off without rotating them. If you look at the pic of the underside of the cover, there are 3 indents on the outside edge and across the top of the cover. Once these are popped, it will slip off pretty easily. It is VERY tight on the mirror and it feel like you are going to break something but, it is pretty simple once you get the top and side popped off. Re-installing is even easer, just snaps back in. I got lucky and picked up the Ingot Silver ones off ebay as take off items. I am not good at painting but these are factory and the contract was what I wanted. I am thinking of having the windshield frame wrapped in silver (I'm bad with film). LOL black should look great on your car. The hardest part will be removing the factory spoiler if you have one on. I highly recommend LOTS of WD40, 10lb fishing line, and a heat gun for really tough spots. I put the Foose spoiler on mine. Not too big, not too small. If I did not have the factory holes, I would have done the Roush spoiler style.
also have Foose spoiler, no factory, had to drill but like it for several reasons over Roush. once I did the hood vents with spoiler, mirrors a must do.
you mention rotating...that probably unhooks the hooks. i'll try and see as I go...
glad I joined the site. have gotten info before but not by contact. again, thanks dw
