I havnt took mine to the track but have all the stuff you mentioned and still had a little bit of wheel hop. I changed out the rubber toe knuckle bushing to the ford performance derlin ones and adjustable toe links and it helped big time.I’m trying for the same with my 2017 car. Date night to 1/4 mile is a good way to put it! I ordered whipple stage 2 kit back in November.
I purchased upgraded axles, driveshaft and clutch. Also picked up some drag wheels and plan to run bias-ply rear tires and skinnies up front when racing. I already have the steeda stop the hop kit and vertical links.
It will come down to the first 60’ and how aggressive you want to launch & shift. I just don’t think the mt82 will live long with real aggressive shifting at this power level.
Will the car have enough power? Maybe? It’s also not a light car. The trap speed will tell the story. Will be fun to find out!
Great info, thanks! I would still expect some hop on the street with a radial street tire. I'm hoping the bias-ply absorbs some of the wheel hop at the track.I havnt took mine to the track but have all the stuff you mentioned and still had a little bit of wheel hop. I definitely would in an auto but will probably be 650 rwhp full weight manual on bias ply radials and axles with no other mods. I honestly do not see many times on basic SC manual s550's. I am hoping for standard ET's to help push myself to better personal times.your car will have plenty of power with the whipple, its all about you the driver. It can be done.
It’s a heavy premium car with no weight reduction other than the drag pack. I know it’s got a lot more in it. To be honest, I haven’t pushed the car too hard. The 11.1 pass was with a pretty soft launch and slow shifting. Just wanted to get a clean pass in.You ran 2/10ths and 2 mph faster than me. But yeah.. You should be mid to low 10s depending on weight. What ur tuner say ?
That run was nice and clean ! Remember though whipple is pretty conservative with their tunes. Just get that 60 down another tenth and you should be in the 10.8x range !I’m on the stock Whipple tune
nice run! if you make it back to WHP let me know. I’ll be heading back there soon for some cooler weather runs.I know this is an old thread but wanted to give and update as I don’t see much info posted on boosted MT82 cars. I improved my previously reported time a bunch by adding a bias ply drag pack, IRS lockout, vertical links and diff bushing inserts.
I know the car is easily a high 10 second car with a little more driving. It’s a basic setup, Gen5 S2, 3.875 pulley, headers, stock MT82, Mach 500 clutch, MGW, stock suspension & the above mentioned parts on 91/100 mix (Whipple tune)
On my way to 10’s!
It's finally cooling off a bit here! Strip season! Though WHP gonna be packed I bet.nice run! if you make it back to WHP let me know. I’ll be heading back there soon for some cooler weather runs.
probably! if I can get in 3 runs I’ll be happy. Honestly it’s probably good that they have been packed. Heard rumors there is a development plan for the area and it doesn’t include a track. Apparently gambling and retail is more profitable. It's finally cooling off a bit here! Strip season! Though WHP gonna be packed I bet.
