Don't ruin a sports coupe to become a Subaru.

I know Mustang isn't the choice for towing, but we have no plan of buying a second car/truck, etc.

Mustang life or no life. Next, he is going to put a steeda 2-inch lift kit so he can take it on the trails.

Daily driver life to the max. He also is planning on towing his mobile home with the mustang

Honest answer please. I'm thinking of adding a roof rack to carry my camping gear. Like this one

I already installed a trailer hitch and a cargo carrier. But the cargo basket hits the ground every time I drive into the garage.
Fuck it. Resale value will definitely go down...

So consider that. But if you don't plan on selling the car to buy something practical then full send. Worse that can happen is you need a new car.

Hello; if the problem is the cargo basket drags the ground so you cannot use it, why not modify that. Not sure which hitch you use, but for the pickup truck hitches there are adapters that can change the height of the ball. The part that slides into the hitch can be had with different drop levels so the ball matched the trailer tongue.
If the cargo basket part that inserts into the hitch can be modified, perhaps you can raise it up enough to stop the dragging? I would check into this before drilling holes in the roof.
