How old are the "seniors" (over 65) on this forum?

Turning 65 this June. My 2019 velocity blue GT PP1 is the first new car I have ever owned. After raising 4 kids, paying bills and just getting by, I was able to buy my dream car when I retired at 60 yrs old. I had no idea just how happy and fulfilled this car could make me. When ever I drive it I fill like the luckiest guy alive.

I know what you mean. I have 5 children and we homeschooled them which meant a single income family. We've had a couple of minivans through the years and some Honda Fits for most of the kids and ourselves when they got older and we didn't need the van anymore. I still have a Fit for economy but love taking the GT out. We'll be moving to the mainland soon and I'm excited to be able to really make use of the power of the car on the freeways there (our "freeways" range from 45 mph to 60 mph max but those are out in the more rural areas).

I'm a few months away from the big 7-0. My first car was a '68 coupe with 302/4V. Bought it in '69, traded it in '71 for a first-year Toyota Celica 4-speed. 50 years later, I bought my second Mustang. Slightly bigger than a 302, with a couple more gears. I chose the number as a salute.

I'm just curious as to how many of us "old guys" are on this forum driving GTs whether boosted or plain stock NA models. I just turned 70 and a lot of the guys in my current state (soon to change) seem to be much younger (many in the 30-40 range though some are in the 20's which surprises me as to where they're getting the bucks to buy these cars). I had to wait until I retired with the children out of the house before I actually bought my "retirement" car that I've wanted for a long, long time. Thanks!

68 here, soon to be 69. Bought my first Mustang last year. A 2019 Bullitt which completed my trifecta of Pony Cars. I have a Octane Red Challenger Scat Pak, a white Camaro SS and the green Bullitt all with 6 speeds. Love them all.

Did the same. Use 67 for my track number in remembrance of my 67 2+2 with a 390.

76, going on 18. First Mustang , new 1965 Fastback, four speed, four barrel carb, hooker headers front disc breaks, 3.8 gears. Did a complete build in first there months. Forged pistons solid lifter Cower cam heavy duty clutch scatter shield ported heads larger intake valves. Traction control bars. Ran 13.15 13.2 at Victoria Tx drag strip. (Old air base)
Had 1968 Mustang, a MustangII (68 was stolen), 94GT completely built 302.
Fun cars except MustangII, it was just a driver. Current, 2018 GT a10, for the money, one of the best out of the box performance cars.
Had some other cool cars along the way. My first car was a used 1962 Red 390 Galaxie 500 hardtop. 1988 Mercury Cougar LS with a slightly leaned-on 302, 2006 GTO, 2013 370Z.
Also had some fast 2 wheelers starting with a new 1970 Kawasaki 500 triple with chambers and port work. Best time 12.92. Then moved to the king of 1972 bikes, a 750 Kawasaki 750 triple with chambers, port work and weight reduction. Best time 11.78. Worked hard making some of my rides kind of fast.
Then wrote a check and got a mustang that is faster off the showroom floor than all except the 750. And with just a little work would be the fastest of the group.

Cool. I guess there are a lot of us old guys driving Mustangs. Our first was a '66 with the inline 200 cubic single barrel six (really sad) and the first real one was a '71 Mach 1 but it had the base 302-2V engine with C4 trans. When I got that from my dad, I replaced the 2.79 gears with a set of new 8" Ford 3.50 gears for a '66 Mustang manual. Added a Crower 286 duration hydraulic cam and kit, Isky polylocks for the rocker adjusters, high volume oil pump, Torker 289 manifold topped with a Holley 650 double pumper (had to replace the 50cc pumps with the regular ones) dejetted for my small block. Ran stock factory dual exhaust with Hedman Hedders (that's how they spelled it), Lakewood traction bars (the differential was not a limited-slip so had to do something to even out the right/left rear wheel traction) and J.C. Whitney shift kit. Ran an Echlin/Accel dual point distributor set with 16 deg. advance at idle with 20 dialed in the distributor which gave the best performance with the stock 9:1 compression engine. My best run was 14.2 on the 1/4 but incredibly the gas mileage went up from 13-14 mpg stock to 15-16 mpg with everything in it. (BTW, I think with the stock single exhaust 2V carb, it probably ran 17 seconds if we're lucky.) Anyway, these S550s are incredible. Not only is the fuel economy better than my '71 was, but the power is ridiculous for a car that weighs 500 lbs. more than my '71 was. Technology really makes a huge difference in these modern cars.

I don’t quite fit the criteria of the thread’s author since I’m an Ecoboost guy, but I’m 68 and going strong!

I'm an Ecoboost HPP /HP owner too. Three years since I brought it home on 3/2/2020 after a factory order Jan 2020. I was a young 62 at the time,. always wanted a Mustang!
