Lol this happens every iteration of a cobra from as far back as I can remember, starting with the SVT Cobra 03/04. The forums blow up with how expensive it will be, and every time its way less than what everyone expected. Ford tends to undercut the competition. The Demon while yes is competition, is a limited production vehicle, so the Cobra will compete with the ZL1 and the Hellcats. Lol when the gt350 came out everyone thought it would be 60-70k, I quoted $54,000 (i think it was 54,999?), and hit it pretty dead-on when it actually came out.

Hellcat Base - $65,000
Hellcat Widebody - $71,000
Zl1 - $61,000
GT350: $57,000

I will go conservative and price it higher since the Zl1 and hellcats are old news now...

2019 GT500 will start at $69,000 base.

Thats right, it was even less. I swore it was $49k, but my quick search, I couldn't find it. So I quoted even higher than the original price.

Anyway, highly highly doubt (before ADMs) the GT500 will be over 70k base

I think that's a good starting point as well, so they can say it's under $70k.

I'm paying much, much closer to MSRP. Where do you get 50k from?

65k sticker on the base vehicle.

ADMs will be large and all over the board.

Hell, there are dealers asking 25k ADMs on R's right now.

I can see 50k from wacky CA dealers

The dealer where I purchased my GT350 from in Texas is quoting me 10k over for the first GT500. CA most likely 15k to 20k for first deliveries IMO.

A few things....

GT350 Voodoo engine was a completely new high RPM "exotic" design which is only used on the GT350, so they have a lot of R&D costs to recoup. They also shake a lot and probably will have a short (relatively speaking) life span (compared to normal OEM engines) before needing to be rebuilt or exploding. (high warranty claims)

the GT500 Predator engine is basically the 5.2L aluminator with some R&D from the GT350, plus a blower. Nothing that fancy. It probably only costs Ford about $8,000 more to make the GT500 over a PP2 GT.

If you compare it to the Camaro Z-28 7.0L 505hp track beast (more GT350 competitor) that used to sell for more than the new Zl1's 650hp supercharged (more GT500 competitor). So MAYBE, JUST MAYBE the GT500 doesn't have to cost more than the GT350. I mean its not like a Boss302 (more like a Bullit) vs. GT500.

Them selling side by side for at least one year if not 2 years, though kind of confuses me.
1. Does it mean the GT500 completely blows away the performance of the GT350 so they need that extra little "cheaper" step in there b/c the GT500 is so much more performance and price.

2. Or does it mean that the GT500 is really more of a straight line car, and they're keeping the GT350 as their high rpm track car. (kind of like 911 Turbo vs 911 GT3)

Option 1. The GT500 will be something like a "More powerful and heavy GT350" for Track, Drag, Roadcourse and Highway so.... it won't be cheaper than 69-70K IMO.

Well.... Let's see numbers (considering that it will be DCT7 only):
SRT Hellcat A8: 70.1K
SRT Hellcat Widebody A8: 76.1K
Camaro ZL1 A10; 66.2K
Camaro ZL1 1LE (Manual): 71.3K

It sounds that it will be around 70K for the base and depending on the differences between the regular and the "R" let's see how much it increases.

The Voodoo engine is a Coyote-based engine with a different crank that is "optimized" for running in a higher rpm range than typical of Ford passenger car V8 engines. They don't "shake a lot" but do operate (frequency-wise) in a band that their CPC counterparts don't normally see. Their lifespan has not been shown to be any less than that of their brethren and passed the same internal durability standards for production powerplants. There is no evidence that points to higher than normal claims.

The engine that will power the upcoming GT500 has nothing to do with the Aluminator crate engines that are sold through Ford Racing Performance Parts. The engine has been developed on its own and doesn't share R&D or comparative data any more than any other engine program. The engine that reaches production will be newly engineered from the pan up. If anything can be shared it undoubtedly will.

I love this kind of comments. I hate when people think "they have this *insert crate/modified engine* available, that's the one they will/should use.
