How many track days do you get out of pads?

I am on stock pads right now and I need to see how much meat is on them. How long will ceramic pads last? What do you recommend getting for a street car and how do I know how much meat is enough for a track day?

Tech inspection normally wants to see at least 50% friction material thickness remaining, which I think typically means at least 5mm / 0.20".

Whose ceramic pads are on there now?

Ceramic pads are junk on a race track or for any spirited driving

True, if you're talking about Hawk's Perf Ceramic or any of the ceramics that are stocked by the average auto parts store. I don't care for those for street driving.

Carbotechs and G-locs are ceramic formulations that do have track cred.

If you are a first timer or new to track days, then I would expect 3-4 weekends in lower HPDE groups.
When you get faster, more seat time, you'll be lucky to get 2 -3 full on track weekends out of track pads, let alone the stock ones.

"The faster you go, the more it costs..!"

I moved up from Stock pads to Stoptech race pads. Nice Budget pads which perform pretty well without fade, although they dust like crazy. No need for Fancy Rotors either.. Burn your way through plenty of Rock Auto rotors -Cheap as chips.

I am now running Carbotech XP12, which have a great initial bite, with a nice progressive feel.
If you are a street driver too, then you'll have to put up with a bit of squeal and dust on the rims.
also changed to Carbotech XP10's on the rear..

The OEM PP Pads are actually Ferodo DS2500.
My track is 2 km small very hard on the breaks 4 hard stops 1 from 180 km/h to 70 km/h in like 90 meters. So a set of OEM pads last around 150 laps front and 200 laps rear.

Here is a video from my best lap:

I now bought GLoc R10/R8 which are not installed yet but I expect them to be better.
Hope this helps.
