My friend still has his 66 K code 4-speed fastback mustang bought new. Back in the 80's my 85 LX would beat it with ease at the track. I still remember the sound of the solid lifters in it. He had headers intake and even back then Alan Root heads. We both ran Mickey Thompson SS G/60/15 sticky tires. It was a cool car but no match for the 85 LX.

I guess mine would have been worth a lot of money now, but a woman in an Imperial blew through a stop sign and took care of that. The Mustang was totalled, but I bought it back from the insurance company and salvaged the drivetrain. We put it in a Model A two door. That little 289 fit really nice and made a fun street rod.
