How long did you want a Mustang before you got one and what did it take to make it possible?

I didn't.
I needed another 'hotrod' car for the Grandson.

Only reason I have one now is; it was cheaper than a Challenger.
Wish I had kept my '15 SS Camaro, though.

Just a car..................

I waited 2 years! I graduated High School in 1980. Bought a brand new base model Escort when it came out. Had my eye on the new Mustang though. In 1983 they put the (can you believe I wanted it bad) 175 HP 5.0 in it. First it came with the 4 speed then the new 5 speed (that’s it had to have one!) so good bye Escort and hello Mustang! That thing ripped in the 1/4.
15.4 at 90mph.

I had a 65 Mustang in the 60s and I was not impressed, so I never really wanted another one. But, I was looking for a decent performing convertible with a back seat that people could actually sit in. You would be surprised at how few cars fit that criteria. I tried a Mustang GT, Camaro ZL1, Mercedes SL63 AMG, BMW M3 and M6 and an Audi S5. They are all very heavy cars with very hefty price tags. Aside from the Mustang, the M6 was the only one with decent rear seat space and it performed extremely well. But it weighs over 4600lbs. and I would be looking at a used one that was 4 - 5 years old because new ones cost $150k. The Mustang GT had about the same seat space, a lot less weight, reasonable performance, a much lower price and a warranty, so it was just a lot more practical. The quality difference is considerable, which is kind of a mixed blessing. At least you don't have to worry about it so much.

I have been a mustang fan for as long as i can remember. so 40 years +, when the s550 came to Australia it was love at first sight. The main reason I never owned one was money. I'm A crazy christian, crazy about God that is. Very active in my church. One day I got the surprise of my life when 5 church members felt, individually God was asking them to buy me a car. they had know idea I was a Mustang fan and so didnt understand why this car. They new what i did for the church and that God wanted to bless me. they followed what they sensed. even got my colour lightning blue. so my gift from God . 2018 lightning blue Mustang GT. I've had it 2 years now and everyday I open the shed and look at it I pinch myself , make sure I'm not dreaming. it is real.
True story.

Small world...I also made the jump from Escort to Mustang. In 1991 I was out of college and had my first “real” job. I was driving a black 1987 Escort GT which I had just finished paying off. Someone in my neighborhood put their 1988 Mustang GT 5speed (white w/grey ground effects) up for sale. I had to come and go everyday seeing that FOR SALE sign in the windshield. I decided to stop in at my credit union, get approved and made it mine. What a huge upgrade!! 29 years later I’m on my 5th Mustang GT (3rd convertible).

Wanted one since the S550 refresh. Finally pulled the trigger due to a good job and circumstances this year.

I wanted one since the Mustang officially set foot on European shores in 2015. And it's due to arrive mid November. At least I hope so, due to COVID shipment is already delayed two weeks. Fingers crossed :fingerscrossed:!

Didn't know I wanted one per say... Had a 67 Mustang way back in the day, followed by Camaros and Corvettes and had recently sold my Corvette and whilst my main drive car was in the workshop with stuffed turbo (BMW X5) I thought Id hire a car... Treated myself to 3 days with an S550 (and got a flat tire at night in peak traffic no less) and decided I had to have one.

Told the rental guy on return I was going to buy one and Im sure he was like yeah yeah, what everrrr...

Went to Ford Dealer and said I want to buy one, please see whats available new ( as NZ dealers dont sit on new stock at the yard, only 2nd hand ). Dealer never rang me back... Gave it a miss for a couple of weeks waiting... and then bought a 2020 else where in the country.

Rental was a 2019 Iconic 10 speed

I bought an Iconic 2020 10 speed

Photo of Rental
Photo of mine (which I promptly modified as I do all my cars)

Funny thing is I take it back to the dealer who snobbed me for servicing/mods and the Mustang salesperson doesnt make conversation or look at me at all lol...

I own a brand new Ford Fiesta with I bough on credit in 2013 the end of this credit was 2018 . In 2015 I wanted to buy a Ford Focus RS however same year the new Mustang got announced so I start planing on getting one. In 2016 I made a plan to buy a used 2016-2017 Mustang around April of 2019 based on very good planning and a lot of savings in 2018 I saved 52% of my income with the sole purpose of buying the Mustang. In 2018 I payed off my Fiesta and with the money that was left over of it was very close to buying a Mustang. What finally tiped the scales was that in December of 2018 I got fired from my job with very generous severance package so that helped me get the final money for the car and the search begin. In 2017 in an issue of the local ford dealer magazine an article for Grabber Blue Mustang was available so when I saw the car on the covers on the magazine and read about the history behind the Grabber Blue colour I knew what I wanted so I started searching for such car. In the winter of 2018 after I payed out my Fiesta a bulb broke so I want to the store to buy screwdrivers and a bulb and on the parking lot was a gorgeous grabber blue Mustang in fairness earlier that year I have driven a base grabber blue import from states but turned out the car was flooded during a Hurican so I decided not to buy it. But I was sure this is the colour I wanted. Same year I was monitoring ads in Germany for brand new onces around the 46 000$ mark. Eventually find a company to import me one and in March of 2019 after a lot of planning, saving and dreaming about that car I snapped this photo

And for the past 1 year and a half I'm leaving the Mustang life with 9 days on the track and 23 000 km's of amazing experiences.

I've always wanted a Mustang - Shelby's have been my all-time favorite cars since I was little. I nearly bought a '12 GT back in 2015, but the lack of telescoping wheel left my knee banging against it every time I used the clutch. A few years on, I finally have my dream car!

I wanted a mustang ever since I was a kid. I remember being a little kid and seeing the 1994 redesign for the first time and thinking that it was the most amazing and futuristic looking car ever. As a teenager I could never afford one, my parents weren't that well off and they were cheap too so they helped me buy a used neon. I would have been happy even with a V6 mustang but I couldn't even afford that. One friend in high school had a brand new mustang GT and I remember being very jealous of him. When I started working I could finally afford a mustang but I didn't get one as I needed a 4 door car because I drove my elderly parents around a lot. Then last year I put them in a home and no longer drive them around so I got me a mustang GT. It's my only car (I also got a motorcycle) and it's my favorite car that I've ever owned. I would have been happy with a used late model one, but couldn't find one for a fair price so I paid a bit extra and got a brand new one.

This car must generate a lot of attention in bulgaria. Aren't most cars in europe very small 4 cylinders?

Back in 83, I had a 4800# 71 MK III that used to whip all the new Mustangs & Camaros. It was bone stock except a flipped air cleaner lid for a little more flow and sound. Good times.

Bulgaria is the poorest country in Europe however we have a lot of expensive luxury cars as if you don't own a BMW you are considered poor so most of our streets are full with E36, E46 and E90 BMW and the real rich people drive new 3 series or M3, M4, M5 etc. For example we have a 911 GT2 RS here and Lambo's and Ferrari's etc. So the car scene is unique to a point that Seen through Glass made a video about it. Also all cars are modified in such fashion so is not strange to sit on the line next to 400 hp E36 2.8i with turbo kit. For the money the Mustang generate a lot of attention here though so I'm very impressed every time I drive it that everyone is looking to the car and is not uncommon to park in the mall and when you come back to see people taking photos with it. So yeah it generate a lot of attention.
