How do I resize an image in my posts?

When I attach an image in a post it always appears as the original size. Most of the images I see have a little box at the top that says "Image has been resized. Click this bar to view the full image."
How do I do that? I don't want to clutter the forum with huge over sized pics when it's not necessary.

All hotlinked images are resized automatically if they are too large. Note that this does not apply to attachments which get posted with the native size of the image.

To hotlink as Moderator stated, upload your images to an image hosting website like this:

http://imgur.com/

After you upload it, they'll provide you a link like this to copy and paste in your post:

[IMG]http://i.imgur.com/AoGYKLx.png[/IMG]

It should automatically resize.
