So my Mustang now has the dreaded hood corrosion and is out of warranty. I am looking to replace the hood with a fiberglass Anderson Composites hood. Can I still retain my Redline struts and use them with an aftermarket hood? Are hood pins necessary? Thanks.

I have a fiberglass hood and do not use hood pins. The hood does not move enough for me to want to cut it for pins. I know they recommend them for most aftermarket hoods, so if it will give you piece of mind, then go for it.

Hood struts should be fine with a fiberglass hood. I don't use them but a friend does with his hood.

We recommend to always use hood pins and heat shield for added safety and protect the surface of a composite hood. The factory hood struts are rated for the weight of factory hood. We always tell customers to use a prop rod.

What heat shield goes with the Type AT hood?
