Anyone find the hood lift odd? I've driven some pretty junky cars over 100mph on closed courses in Mexico and never experienced even a bit of hood lift. How is this considered acceptable?

Well this is the first production Mustang with an Aluminum hood and fenders, so given the extra flexibility aluminum adds, especially in sheet metal form, I think it's expected. Ford will have to change the design, increase thickness of the aluminum, or add extra bracing, or maybe all of the above.

Hood lift? Ha! The entire front end of my 1965 Shelby lifts at exactly 114 mph. It get mighty squirrely to drive then.

None of you know what scary is until you drive an original 1956 F100 4 speed stick 272 Y-block 3.73 geared brick at 100 mph. Did I mention it has the original straight axle and 4 wheel drum brakes?

On what God-fearing good ole' American highway are you doing this legal 140mph driving where you would have proper conditions to safely evaluate the aerodynamic effects on your engine-enclosure's latch device???
I am assuming that is tounge in cheek humor? I know I hit over 100 regularly just getting up to speed on a highway getting caught up in the beutiful exhaust notes.

Guys, can we keep this thread clean of moral lessons. The concern raised was of hood fluttering at high speeds - lets discuss that.

I have not had that happen, but do feel the front end feel a bit loose >110 mph compared to my old BMW M6, which was totally buttoned down. I like this car far more though :-).

I also saw this! (below). It's vented too!

There could also be some significant weight savings as well I assume. The stock hood is pretty heavy.

Gorgeous hood! To rich for my blood though...

Someone should take a video of the hood fluttering at said speeds and post it here (SAFELY take the video without danger to surrounding traffic or pedestrians).

Their is a great video on YouTube showing hood lift. Titled " blown mustang 5.0 vs art viper" they run 60 to 150. Sorry I don't know how to copy a link.

Most of the ones I've seen that really have a hood lift issue have a grill delete on them.

The factory grill has all those closed areas for a reason. If you open it all up there is too much air getting under the hood and nothing engineered to relieve the pressure.

Example below start at 1:17 if you just want to see the hood lift.

My hood shakes at 100+ MPH on the drivers side corner (below the windshield), my wife said the passenger side is fine. Not sure what can be done???

Why would you own a car like this if you're not willing to drive it...Just my 2€
