Hood heat extractors

Is it possible to add these to a base hood?
I've seen them for sale in all colors.
What's involved and any experiences you had with pics would help.
Worth the trouble and expense?

I've seen plenty of GT hoods pop up for sale on my local Craigslist.

I think picking up a used GT hood would be a cheaper option rather than having a bodyshop cut into your existing hood. Plus it isn't just a hole where the vents are; it is a shaped recess, not easy to get that replicated correctly.
