you may have mentioned it before but what pistons are in the v2?
RPG says there are “issues” with the Diamond pistons .
Tim switched to CP Pistons. He said they had been fighting issues with Diamond and haven't had any since the switch to CP. Didn't go into details, though. He did say the Customer Service was better with CP, though.

Sorry ... for the noob question but what does “CP” stand for ?
My RPG built motor with the Diamond pistons eats oil and has had lots of blow by from day one
I think I may also have a blown head gasket as it looses coolant under boost and can‘t find a leak.
i will be sending the motor back to RPG for a redo - he recommended the Manley platinum series pistons .
I will also upgrade the rods from the current Manley H rods to I beams
The H rods were specific for the Voodoo style pistons with smaller pins so don’t think they would work with the new pistons as I think those use the larger/coyote pin .

I have callie billet rods that are i-beams, so sounds like you're on the right track swapping them out.

awhhh ya. Couple of changes this round (no big power-focused changes - saving that for the next one). I'm sure a close eye will notice them! Will post the full details in the engine thread and here once I get it back with all the proper paper work.

Yeah. I have them coated - super close to the Ruby Red. Super sexy! Just wished I had the front cover coated now that it's back together!

Very nice, Are your coil covers black /stock?
if they are , the contrast will be nice .

I have a CP /5.2 long block with the covers raw /blue coil covers ...

I took my coil overs off a while back - they're still black. I'll have to see if I can find them and check out how they look.

I now wish I had coated them like yours.

in red with the blue coil covers and red rear seal I could have a “Superman “ theme going .
lol
May be I will do with that with the voodoo refresh .
..on the other hand . I think the bare aluminum or your red may look better without the coil covers .
lol

Ball park what are these engine builds costing?
Ha. I can tell you specifically. A FULL refresh of everything that you'll ever need (bearings, pistons, springs, retainers, valves, etc.) and all associated machining will be about $7-8k. Valves shouldn't need to be replaced, so that'll likely lower costs on the 60-80 hour refresh (these are the right ones this time).

I paid $9,300 this round - that includes a new damper, the VCT delete goodies, new valves, and some extra machining to fix stuff from the RGR fiasco.

Thanks for the input how long do you hope this motor will last ideally.

HB's engine is officially done and packaged up for shipping. Fingers crossed we don't have to open it up again for 2 years. Ouch. My wallet.
how long did it take for Tim to finish your motor?

wondering what to expect for mine.
