I hit a deer a few weeks ago while out on a drive. He came out of nowhere and unfortunately I could not avoid him. I had to get the car towed back to my house on a flatbed because i saw oil was dripping from the trans cooler. The poor deer caused quite a bit of damages: the bumper is busted, right headlight mounting tabs are broken, the carbon fiber composite piece is broken, the radiator is bent, and the trans cooler is completely busted. Pinkish oil was dripping out of the trans cooler.

I would like to drive the car to a shop to have it repaired. My question is would I cause more damages to the car by driving it to the repair shop with a broken trans cooler? Thank you for your help.

I would not drive it with a bent radiator or leaking trans cooler. Both operate at high pressure and stress their materials. I would tow and have mechanicals repaired before attempting to drive anywhere, any distance; it's cheap insurance versus further and possibly catastrophic mechanical damage.

I would definitely have it towed. Sucks to see, but hopefully she is fixed up and back on the Rd soon.

Glad youā€™re ok - sometimes a frontal hit like that with a deer can get it over the hood and through the windshieldā€¦

Have it towed, itā€™s not worth the additional risk of something else being damaged and then you only cause more problemsā€¦

Thereā€™s more likely hidden damage if that deer did so much damage to the front of the car.

I know how you must feelā€¦

I had a deer wallop the side of my 2011 Genesis Coupe in 2015ā€¦ came out of the side of the woods as I was passing @ 50mphā€¦ ran straight into my passenger side rear 1/4 and proceeded to roll down the entire side of the car to the frontā€¦. 1/4 was caved in and heavily damaged, door skin was damaged and front fender as well. The deer hit so hard on the rear 1/4 it actually cracked the interior 1/4 plastic that also had to be replaced when the car was repaired. It ended up being close to $9k in repair work, which Included a complete new rear 1/4, new door skin and front fenderā€¦

Thank you everyone for your feedbacks. I will have it towed to the shop. Does anyone in the Bay Area know a good repair shop that i can trust to work on the GT350? Thank you in advance.

I was at a car show/cruise-in yesterday, and a guy came by and said he works at a body shop, and they had a GT350 in for front end damage. He said the carbon fiber core support was $7000.00.
I have no direct knowledge, but that was what he indicated.

That's crazy for mostly a plastic piece. If it looks as nice as a last gen M3/4 strut tower brace, I can understand. This piece seems "carbon fiber" mostly in name only.
