Pretty cool. Like the rent a acer program Hertz had with Ford. Not so bad a job on the Camaro's styling as well.

Is GM definitely not putting the LT5 in the ZL1?
It just seems like a no brainer and have an instant GT500 competitor.

Everything I have read GM denies it, but a camo Camaro has been seen testing that was extremely loud. It seems to be a no brainer. The ZL1 has been boosted to 1000hp by several tuners and so far seem reliable.

Adding power is just that. Without the ancillary modifications to handle it, from an OEM offerings standpoint, it might be fast for a few seconds, but a dog after that

I agree to a point, but it is only 100hp extra and the ZL1 was built beefy enough to take the extra power. Maybe 850, I would be concerned about half shafts, drive shaft, cooling and brakes, etc.

I think the cooling places the most importance. look at the cars that have been modified by aftermarket for just that hp.. they are only good in the 1/4

Very true. Even the extra torque on the trans and diff can make parts deteriorate quickly. Even just increasing cooling fluid amounts will help a lot, which sadly also increases the weight of the car. The 2020 GT500 should have a lot more fluid amounts to keep it cool for longer track lengths/laps.

I just cant see an upside for GM, from a business perspective.
Car is slated to be discontinued anyway
Overall sales are down
1LE sales are abysmal
R&D for OEM compliance/warranty costs
Turnover +mixed to bad reviews for street usage

Whats the upside? All I could see is bragging rights, and thats a big IF, IF it outperforms its direct competitor

Actually, the car is not slated to be discontinued as what I have read. Just the new one postponed. I assume it is the 755HP ZR1 motor and upgrades to go with it are needing more time.

Meh.

For an aftermarket setup, that’s not much.

Hertz can do a 500 too with 900 hp.

And they won’t even need a new SC.

The ZL1 has proven to be a badass ride but the average person doesn't care. They see a 5.0 and are like "nice ride".. The ZL1.. Not so much.

(disclaimer, I think it's a badass car)
