So, out at COTA today for a trackday, braking after the backstraight, and attempting to heel toe, car didn't want to come out of 5th, and that's when I realized my clutch pedal had gone soft. Able to bang it into third and get off the track, through the pits and back to the parking lot.

So, what the hell? Was having no slipping before this happened. Pedal returns just fine, just soft. There is plenty of fluid in the master cylinder.

Could it be a slave cylinder? Clutch master? Throwout?

Any ideas?

Drivetrsin is stock. Car has 28,xxx miles. Car is not working. COTA is 3.4 miles.

Thinking I'm just going to order a new clutch, slave, throw out. Going to try and get the transmission dropped Friday.

sounds like the clutch got over heated most likely. Have you tried the dealership see if you can get warranty coverage? i would replace it with upgraded clutch that can handle the racing

Not even going to bother with a stealership. Why waste money?

I am still technically under warranty, but if it does happen to be the clutch, they aren't going to replace that under warranty. And then I am forced to pay labor.

And I agree, I feel like it would be foolish to put another stock clutch in there. Just going to happen again. Seems like the stock clutches just can't take sustained track abuse/temps.

Don't forget to replace the pilot bearing why you are in there. Cheap $14.

I suspect clutch. Stock clutch probably isn't rated at much beyond the Coyote. Single disc, organic.

And the clutch was in bits. The friction material separated from the disc and the pressure plate diaphragm tongs were bent. What came first I wonder?

from photos on previous postings, the clutch material fails on one side. Was this pressure plate or flywheel side? I assume this means one side retains more heat.

It was the pressure plate side. Flywheel side looks ok. Flywheel looks good too, no grooves or anything.

Going to replace with a Mcleod Street Extreme. Hoping that the Cerametalic clutch will tolerate heat better.

If the flywheel got hot, do you think it is still good ?

I looked at Mcleod website and they only list the RST and RXT for the 2015+ Mustang. Not sure why. Assuming it fits, the Super Street Pro advertises 550 hp and a hybrid ceramic / organic. You could call and ask.
