Has anyone tried to get their brake calipers painted yet?

How - yourself or from a panel shop?

and what colors?

I have done both! I painted them myself in yellow, but the came out terrible so I had a shop powder coat them.

I tried painting and it was an epic fail. The paint didn't really want to adhere to the caliper. I was just using some caliper paint from autozone. So I ended up plastidipping them. So far so good.

You put plastidip on your calipers!? you know brakes get hot right? and that plastidip is not intended for use at high temperature...

I got the front and rear done and I paid 400. They had to remove the mess I made on my attempt, so I accepted the higher cost. I think the regular going rate by me is 300 or so. If you do it, remember that brake fluid destroys all, so be extra careful when filling and venting the brakes

Is that because they are powder coated and need to be cleaned before you paint them.
I was thinking of painting myself after watching some videos. it looks so easy in the videos.
But after reading comments, I am having second thoughts.:(

Hi Kaps,

Do you realise that cjm9999 is in Miami, USA.

The $400 he quoted would be US Dollars.
Yes I did and I am hoping it should be between 350 to 500 Aussie dollars max.
Anything more than that i will get it painted or paint myself. :D

I painted many calipers in my lifetime and the easiest and the most effective way is to take off the caliper and spray paint it with high temp paint of course. I tried the brush on method and spraying while the caliper was still on but nothing comes out better than taking a little time and actually taking the caliper off and apart before painting.

That is very neat job. :hail: Did you paint it without removing and what paint did you use? Thanks for sharing photos.
