Installer was overheard cursing quite a bit in spanish getting the stock quarter windows out of the car, but install was sucessful. Tint cost $150 (I like the place so I didn’t push back on the one-off price). Install was also $150.

Sorry for dirty car pics, but here they are on a black car. Some of the detail is lost I think because triple black. The black trim would probably stick out better on a more brightly colored car, but I do dig the look, and its nice to still have decent visibility out of those quarter windows. Quality of the parts was 10/10.

That’s exactly what I paid for tint and installation so not bad. Looks great!

Final results looks great!

So installers are not removing the interior plastics at all? How are they getting the factory rear 1/4 glass out - heating it and then pressing on it from from inside out?

Did your installer coat the areas on the body where it appears the paint was marred after removal - or is that old butyl still stuck there?

There is a small trim panel in the door area that gets removed to get under the front edge and you can do most of the work from there. Once all the connecting seal is sliced through, it doesn’t take anything to remove it. No heat guns or raw pressure involed except to test where it was still attached.

My installer didn’t do as much rust proofing as he should have, no, but yeah he removed as much of the old seal as you can.

My interior was also untouched. They have what basically looks like a long Jimmy stick that goes into a battery operated reciprocating hammer drill. The blade is super thin so they just slide it under the glass and the blade slices right through the old sealant. They gotta be careful though as it can damage paint under the glass seal, hence the need for rust inhibitor. When mine were removed they had one guy inside the car watching the blade to make sure it didn’t get near the trim plastics. The whole process takes but a few seconds per panel but they have to remove the weather stripping, some screws, and an access panel to get to the backside of the glass.

Interesting. I was under the impression that the car would practically be gutted to install these.

I need some. On the list they go.

Nah, and even if you did remove the interior panel it’s pretty simple. I have my entire rear of the car stripped right now for sound deadening install.

Mine was $150 to tint with ceramic too. So price is normal. My install was $400 though. $200 each side.

400 is a lot for maybe 1.5 hours of work, but hopefully they did a good job for you.

I have the HGP windows as well and I love the look. I’ve never been a fan of plastic louvers so this was the ticket for me. My local glass shop took about 3 hours to install them.
Only problem is they cracked one. The laminated glass is super thin and flexible so it’s not very strong until it’s mounted in the car and the guy put his palm right in the center of it and pushed. The shop didn’t want to pay for replacement because I didn’t buy it from them so I called HGP.
Brandon at HGP went to bat for me and convinced his boss that they would replace the single piece even though their warranty specifically said they don’t cover damage due to installation errors. They absolutely could have said “sorry, but we’ll sell you a new set” and they didn’t. That’s excellent customer service on their part.
Got the replacement glass in 2 days and had the owner of the glass shop do the install instead of the less experienced younger guy who did the first set. Now all is good.
I only wish I had known they were going to offer the glass without the markings and the discount but considering they sent me a new panel free of charge I can’t complain about the $125 coupon. They also have amazing sales during Black Friday and had 25% off last year.
Yes they are expensive, but quality and uniqueness hardly ever come cheap. I’m a happy customer and love the look!

Omg these look SO incredibly slick and I’m really glad I found this thread! So many gorgeous examples of these quarter windows in action.

I for one adore the classic louvered look but was not a fan of the black plastic pieces you just glue to your car. This really fits the bill in achieving both a nod to a classic muscle car look while remaining very classy in style. Love it!

Once my pony arrives I will absolutely be saving my pennies and crossing my fingers for Black Friday sales from HPG! These are totally worth the cost to me personally to class up my lady. 😎 I want this to be my first mod and have already found a glass installer to work with ($150 per window), so I’ll be sharing a lot of the helpful notes and experiences others mentioned in this thread.

Now I’m just hoping I can find a willing tint shop to work with me. 🤔 They all seem very confused about these windows so I may need to buy them and physically take them in for quotes so they can see for themselves and confirm they’re something they can work with…🤞

Tint absolutely adheres to the inside of the panels. So just tell them they need to cut 3 panels of tint per window and to apply them as usual but DO NOT use any kind of heat or sharp objects on them.

You can’t use heat either so it’s not exactly as usual. Take it to who ever the best tint shop is and have them install prior to window install.

Uhm, you literally quoted me saying don’t use heat and then tell me you can’t use heat? 🤣👍🏽
