If Honda headlights, a Hyundai deck lid, Camaro bumper, and Camaro doors mean the S550 looks "dated", then I will take dated all day. About the only exterior change I like on S650 is the hood...even that is Camaro-esque but it looks good. Guess most people agree with me because it is selling like crap. I won't even rehash the interior.
Cost and interest rates is more likely the reason its sales are slumping, not the looks. There’s a good amount by me driving around now

I saw it at the New York World's Fair in 1964, but I was 8 and had no idea what I was looking at. Pretty sure I thought it was cool though...

I was also at the 64 World's Fair in NY at 8 years old as well, but don't remember the mustang however I do remember the space age Maroon Chrysler that had the fake jet turbine engine lights sticking out of the middle of the rear end trunk area.

My local club in Boise Idaho runs a Mustang Day Cruise every year on April 17th, which is always our biggest turn out, regardless of if it falls on a weekday or weekend. This year I led a cruise of about 55 cars on an hour long cruise through the town and up through the foothills. Great time! Hope everyone had a great Mustang Day!!

I'm glad diehard fans got Ford's attention when they were trying to replace Mustang with a front wheel drive Probe. Otherwise, there wouldn't be a 61-year straight Mustang production.

I was also glad that when Ford put the 3 side-by-side louvered-looking taillamps on each side, which gave a nod toward the original 3-vertical-light per side concept. Of course, Ford tried a horizontal 3-light configuration later which customers apparently protested successfully, bringing back a vertical orientation the next model year.

Ford has learned to listen to its diehard fans, and go back to its roots....for the most part, unlike GM which alienates its customer base by being on again off again with its Camaro offerings. Even Corvette's record has a model year production gap across its history.

Fake turbine? I think you better rethink that:). Jay Leno has one. They made 55.
I said fake turbine (lights) sticking out the back, never said it was not turbine powered. I believe it had a Bell Huey helicopter engine in it. I was 8 years old and that was many many years ago.

I retract my statement. :) . Cool car. Must have been nice to see it in person and brand new.

If it’s a cool piece of automotive history, chances are high that Leno has one, as is the case with this particular Chrysler. Also one of the select few that has a 2015 GT350R. He doesn’t sell much either, I’d love to get a full tour of his warehouse/garage sometime. Unfortunately I have zero connections that could make that happen ☹

I would love to meet him and see his collection as well. I was restoring a 1954 Allard palm beach and he called the shop personally to talk about the car. He was a regular guy. I think could sit down and have a drink with him and Tim Allen.

Oh wow that’s so cool!

Yeah, he and Tim Allen would be on my short list of celebrities to meet and chat with. Both seem like regular, down to earth kind of people. I have family in the LA area and they’ve seen Leno show up to various car shows, cars and coffees and whatnot. Talks to everyone that wants to talk and lets kids sit in whatever car(s) he brings, no matter the value of the car.

I will second all the above indeed, both Leno and Allen are true gearheads to the core. I would love to hang out with either one.
