Hi all - the fender flares on my HP equipped Mach1 seem to be coming off. The tape doesn’t appear to be the strongest stuff, and a bit of a cheesy way to attach them.

Anyone else had this issue?

Strange, I was under the impression that the opposite was true and the tape was extremely strong. Maybe the dealer didn’t ensure the surface was clean when they installed them. I know it’s very easy for dirt and small rocks to get inside of them. Maybe that contributes to the adhesive failing?

yeah, some def fender rub and gab issues at the panels, looks like a rub.
nothing was hit. The car is dirty and has some rubber marks from track use, but has never hit anything. Only has 600 miles on it and has only really seen track time and the inside of the race trailer.

Those pics are from both front arches. I think the dealer did a pretty poor prep job.

The spot above your finger looks like something has rubbed it at some point and could of caused the separation. If the angle of the picture is showing something different, disregard my comment.

that spot is tire rubber from bits of race tiregetting kicked up by the car in frontof me. It’s not an impact, and easily wiped away with Mother’s Race Rubber Remover (R3)

Then, more than likely a bad install from the dealer. good luck with getting it corrected.

Agreed, When my car comes in I will be looking at all of this, I don't care how long it takes. Sad that OP only has 600 miles on his car and this happening. It could be worth a phone call at a minimum, to try and get it resolved.

Oh, believe me, I will be calling them. The car sat at the dealer for 2 months waiting to get the rear diff cooler warrantied as well. I'm a bit fed up with it, honestly.

I would definitely have that addressed as I almost guarantee this was a prep issue.

Btw I noticed you tracked before the recommended 1K mile break-in. I know some of the die-hard racers I was in class with at the gt350 track attack never did either and swore that the best break-in is driving the shit of it which guarantees to seat the rings and they also never had high oil usage either.

I’m halfway inclined to take them off. My GT350R didn’t have them…

Different fenders right? With the Mach you’re going to get a lot of poke from the front wheels. You could always take them off, clean off the old adhesive and use new 3m stuff so you know it’s done right. Maybe bitch enough to the dealer and get new ones ordered under warranty and talk them into letting you take them home and install yourself.
