Had enough of aftermarket CAI & HIGH IAT's. So here's my fix.

Everyone commenting about how ugly it is. Thanks for pointing out the obvious. Don't run it then.

You can almost always point out the A10 owners now

The main problem with open intakes is where the filter gets air, not with how well the intake tube itself is insulated. Air only spends seconds flowing through the tube. It is not going to pick up much heat after it gets inside and is flowing thru. I optimized my PMAS by blocking a lot of the radiator wash and concentrating on pulling more fresh air in to the box. While moving down the road, my IAT is about 6+ degrees. If I sit idling for a while then it might max out at 140. Start moving again and it comes down quickly. I could go further with it. I think the ideal solution to get enough intake volume without grabbing hot air would be a box with two snorkels. One that pulls air from the grille like factory, and the other pulling from the fender well. It needs to be fitted close to the intake tube and have room around the filter element. All a matter of being clever enough and working within constraints. You need enough square inches of opening in the box (snorkel) to facilitate the requirements of flow by the CAI. Admittedly, that is probably a concern more for the F.I. crowd but every little bit helps. I remember reading that the PMAS engineers did not use a factory type snorkel because it started limiting flow.
