I contacted Western Motorsports who made this for the S197 [had one on my 05 GT and loved it]. It simply will not fit because the hood and nose on the S550 slopes downward. Sucks from that aspect.I'm curious as to why no one has tried to come up with a street or drag design for the S550 5.0 that resembles the older Vette factory cold air intake system:
Isn't a 90* bend (or any bends for that matter) considered a restriction in the air tract? On most vehicles where modifications for max performance is warranted, most folks are always trying to get rid of the bends/ribs of a factory CAI not add more (or any at all if possible).
Despite the example chosen being "GM", from a performance perspective, wasn't the Vette intake system fairly least restrictive with a forward, straight on shot to the TB, rather than an offset design like the S550 (or even S197's)?
This video should help explain what happens in a 90 degree turn. The PMAS looks like it tries to take advantage of this principle.Just curious, do you think there’s an advantage to the design of the PMAS elbow vs. the typical sweep 90’s offered by all the other intake systems ?
I know in the furnace biz a 90 degree with a curved short side radius outflows 2 45 degree with sweeped long/short side radiuses.Just curious, do you think there’s an advantage to the design of the PMAS elbow vs. the typical sweep 90’s offered by all the other intake systems ?
