Had enough of aftermarket CAI & HIGH IAT's. So here's my fix.

Paid subscription.. no thanks. But thanks for the link !
I think it's a $5/mo stream add on option for most services. I signed up a few months ago. Binge watched nearly every episode already. Worth it IMO.

I'm curious as to why no one has tried to come up with a street or drag design for the S550 5.0 that resembles the older Vette factory cold air intake system:

Isn't a 90* bend (or any bends for that matter) considered a restriction in the air tract? On most vehicles where modifications for max performance is warranted, most folks are always trying to get rid of the bends/ribs of a factory CAI not add more (or any at all if possible).

Despite the example chosen being "GM", from a performance perspective, wasn't the Vette intake system fairly least restrictive with a forward, straight on shot to the TB, rather than an offset design like the S550 (or even S197's)?
I contacted Western Motorsports who made this for the S197 [had one on my 05 GT and loved it]. It simply will not fit because the hood and nose on the S550 slopes downward. Sucks from that aspect.

I believe they have a 7 or 14 day free trial if you want to test drive it. Like JohnnyGt said, it’s worth it given how cheap it is

Well, as an Odin owner like most of those who thinks the open box is no good to our application! Then, I said lemme try on making my own closed box! I came across this thread by coincidence and thought I would share the experiment. When I installed the box I couldn't feel any changes or improvements to the drivability as the hesitation still there! I would suggest it might help preventing hot air coming from the engine bay. The surging/hesitation is gone now cause my tuner was able to adjust the torque calculations right. We're few steps away from success hopefully.
On the last picture I may not uploaded the latest modification as I was able to make an opening of %30 to allow less air going through that snorkel. That's because I am running an aftermarket grille with wide open driver side inlets! ( there's been several debates on that in other threads )

Has anyone tried the S&B CAI?

They have airflow test results on the webpage.
They seem to emphasize air filter flow ratings overall. Area for area, pretty sure my drop-in K&N flows about the same more or less.

Just curious, do you think there’s an advantage to the design of the PMAS elbow vs. the typical sweep 90’s offered by all the other intake systems ?

This video should help explain what happens in a 90 degree turn. The PMAS looks like it tries to take advantage of this principle.

I know in the furnace biz a 90 degree with a curved short side radius outflows 2 45 degree with sweeped long/short side radiuses.

Showed PMAS elbow connected with the 18+ airbox to Nick James, founder of Precision Mass Airflow System (PMAS), here's the direct quote ; " Nothing wrong with doing that at all! "
That's all the confirmation I need.

Is that a 15-17 intake elbow?
