I live in South Carolina where firearms are accepted and we want the 2nd admendment.

I read the news and it appears the Democratic party is going after guns again and this time even repealing the 2nd admendment.
The people that live in the Democratic control states as in California New York etc.. is this what you want?
Are you willing to give up the 2nd admendment? Also seems the 1st admendment is next.

Exactly what kind of responses are you expecting from a thread like this? Are you trying to divide this country even further?

I don't trust the news, trying to understand the differences in thoughts. I realize people have different opinions and I don' believe intelligent conversation about a subject divides. I want know why people think the way they do, so maybe I can learn.

I am not closed minded, I believe (I) anyone will learn from a conversation about differences. This is a forum designed exactly for that. Tho sometimes mis used by people with their personal agendas.

If you think discussing a topic like firearms, politics, religion, sexual preference etc.. is dividing the country, well...... maybe you and others like you are part of that problem. I don't say that to berate you.

Seems to be the narrative that news promotes, " we have a problem in America but we can't discuss it"

There has been mass exodus from New Your and New England into the Carolina's in recent years. You have plenty of people there to ask these questions of. Anyone lacking a southern brogue is likely from the NE, ask them. That way you get first hand face-to-face answers to your questions. Hopefully those migrating to the Carolina's are those from NE who are conservative to moderates that are tired of the strict laws and higher than Pike's Peek taxes. Good luck.

I was hoping for people who seem to be ok with what going on, It is a fact that close to half the people in our country have completely different views of what America should be. I realize that soon I may live in a different America.

I will accept what ever government ask me to do if done properly. If people in California that have the most restrictions and and regulations are happy I want to know. Maybe I'm missing something, as they say, waters fine come on in.

Japan, Australia, UK, Germany has no 2nd Amendment and no NRA. And you can only own a gun there under stringent circumstances. Somehow......must be a coincidence.......the gun homicide per capita rate is minuscule compared to the US. They don't have weekly mass shootings.

The USA gun culture is perpetuated at its core by ego driven people who think having a gun is a good thing that's going to protect them. Yet all the research shows the more guns in a society, the more unsafe it is.
My neighbor went to Las Vegas and never came back. She was shot in the head while dancing at a country music concert. Having a gun wouldn't have helped her. A law that prohibits someone owning/purchasing AR-15s might have. In Nevada it's legal to own 32 of them. Does that sound like common sense?

People flip out all the time in all societies. When someone decides they don't want to live anymore and are going to take others with them, in the USA, they have access to a gun and go from a "good guy" to a mass murderer. It happens over and over and over. Needlessly.

The 2nd amendment has no relevance to today's world and wasn't written based on private gun ownership. It's a crutch for the delusional to manipulate.
Guns are a cancer to the USA. The NRA is a cancer. Australia has had ZERO mass shootings since their gun ban. The USA and their delusional anti-factual beliefs and thoughts and prayers mentality will ensure that mass murder continues here. It's despicable.

Never ever will I give up my right to own firearms. On another thread months ago I went into detail about a scenario where some ass clown almost had his way with someone close to me...family. My mother stopped him dead in his tracks and he's still paying the price for trying to rape my family member. My grandfather came here in the early 1900's from Sicily and by the 1950's he was the head of the liquor board of the state of Maryland. He always said ''When the government tries to take your guns, it's time to worry''. Our right to bear arms is intended for us to fight off tyranny from our government, not for hunting or target shooting. The need for a 30 round magazine is obvious...if an angry mob is coming at you, do you want a bolt action 5 shot dear rifle or that 30 round magazine?

Nomadic, you have a right to your opinion, but I completely disagree with you.

But of these are good discussions and points well made.

Nomadic do you feel like the government per say is harder on the law abiding citizen because of others criminal activity? Do you feel better and safer with each new regulation?

If you had a home invasion by people on high on drugs at your home while you are on your computer typing a reponse to this thread. What would you do?

This is what is hard for me to swallow, lawmakers make all these laws but it never changes the criminal aspect. The laws they make do not have anything to do with mass murders, they are always made by emotional distress and not trying to solve real issue. Mental illness. They only affect law abiding citizens

Seems recent politics actually create empathy toward the criminal, now they are wanting to set them free, give them clean records, make it against the law to ask on job applications. Alot of law abiding Americans feel like they have been neglected because nothing is being done to stop criminal behavior. We feel we are being punished for wanting safety. In the mean time criminals are assaulting, breaking and destroying people's lives with no worries, no remorse. They blame it on society.

Both of the auguments hold water, not agreeing with you on 2nd admendment tho.
No matter how it is interpreted no one has the right to consider removing an admendment because they don't like it. As mentioned before politicians want to remove the 2ND then they can move on to the 1st.

Let me break this answer down, first I’m a gun owner yet my ownership is absolutely NOT driven by some gun toting ego trip so thanks for your liberal generalization. Real gun statistics not altered or manipulated to support a liberal agenda ACTUALLY show that places where legal gun ownership is supported show less gun crime. Third the world and unfortunately this country is full of crazy people who will find a way to commit they’re crimes ... gun or no gun. Have you not seen the people who were mowed down by vehicles intentionally? Evil will find a way to commit evil acts regardless of what’s available. Liberalism, socialism are the true cancer to this country AND world ! By reading your response it seems clear your infected as your able to regurgitate every mindless liberal talking point. ANY MURDER is tragic and that is truly tragic that your neighbor never came home but to truly solve senseless acts of violence people need to stop blaming the weapon and start blaming the perpetrator. Start asking why people are so driven to unspeakable acts and maybe just maybe we can begin to understand and prevent future horrors. Otherwise we’ll have to ban cars, knives, bats, hammers, sharp objects in general, anything that explodes or can be made to explode, ropes ,poisons of any kind, hands, and inevitably humans all together since libs feel taking something away is always the solution.

They want confiscation. Just read what Nomadic posted. The politicians can't say what they really want. Just like they are now finally admitting they want socialism, but I'm not sure that will fly with the public.

    Georgia house bill 731 (attempted)
    Feinstin from California
    Governor of New York
Them and others have said on camera that AR ban is just beginning that they want all guns, especially ones that have a magazine. It not hard to find more on the web, most are documented by CNN and other Democratic news organization.

If you really believe the politicans only want "gun control" and not to remove guns. Well you can keep your doctor.

But this is not a debate on if gun control is right or wrong, it is whether people in liberal states are happy with all the regulations and infringement on life. I see where the under 50k is moving out but the rich are moving in even tho it's 13% state income tax

Socialism will happen, it's the " Hope and Change thing," young people have no idea what their eutopia socialism will turn into.
America is already I think around a 43% socialist government

I don't disagree Interceptor. The way I see it we are at a turning point in so many ways. We either get our house together and work towards correcting what seems too far gone to correct or we take the other turn and we're screwed for certain. The youngsters have it all wrong and the grown ups have destroyed the playing field.
