I tried to search this question in this forum and got no luck, so forgive me if this question has been asked and answered previously. I am relatively new to the Coyote/S550 platform having come over from the S197 GT500 world. I have been wondering if this is doable, and if so, what would be needed to make it happen? I have access to a nearly new stock GT500 supercharger take-off. I have Roush CAI (already installed), ID1050x's, VMP Voltage booster, OPG's with crank sprocket from Lethal, and long tubes ready to go on the car. If this is doable and won't get super stupid paying for and sourcing all the pulleys, hoses and belts needed to make this happen, I think I would like to do it. It certainly would be a little more unique than a Roush, Edelbrock, Whipple, etc. Anyone know if this is a worthwhile endeavor?

Probably not doable because the older GT500’s are blow down design superchargers. It won’t work with the DI hardware in the valley of the Gen 3 coyote.

Yeah, this is a 2021 GT500 take-off with about 1000 miles on it. I had a 2009 and realize the 5.4/5.8 supercharger is a different set-up.

Department of boost website would be your best bet. They do the gt500 to gen 1 kits. Havent looked into them for years, but wouldnt be surprised if they arent trying this already.

I reached out to Department of Boost and they don't really know either. They said they aren't sure the blower would clear the direct injection fuel rails.

We put one on a Gen 1. I’ll take a look tomorrow and see if there would be any issue on a Gen 3 but I don’t think there would be.

There is a guy local that installed a newer gt500 take off blower on his 18-19 f150. He made adapter plates / spacers that went in between the heads and the blower. Its a quad cab 4wd. Ran consistant 11.20's with heavy 22" wheels and AT tires. Pretty impressive. I would say the spacers were probaby about 1.250" thick but I dunno forsure. I would imagine they were needed to clear the direct injection on the Gen 3's. you can see one of the plates in the pic. As for fitting under the stock s550 with spacers, not sure about that. I'm pretty sure someone is making the spacers or they are still in the works. This guy is the first I have seen to add the gt500 to a gen 3. I will see if I can track him down and see about specs or if he has made anymore.

At this point, the original question posed is moot for me. I bought a Gen 5 Whipple, but it is a good topic to leave up for others who are interested, and I appreciate the participation. I am sure this question will be asked a few more times as people with the new GT500 are beginning to mod them and ditch the stock blower.

I know it’s been a while but did you ever find out if it would drop onto a gen 3 without hitting the DI rails? Definitely would be a cool little project for me if it fits.

just wondering if you ever tracked this guy down? Would love to know if the spacers were actually needed and/or if someone is selling them. Also would like to hear if he had any insight on what else was needed to complete the swap

Interesting. Has me thinking about how this blower would apply to a Gen 2.

I know the entire GT500 engine is a relatively simple swap into a Gen 2, and IIRC only the camshafts have to be swapped out since the reluctors differ.

Since these blowers pop up occasionally, I'm now curious if this is fairly simple.....
