I prefer the manual in my GT350 to the PDK in my Cayman by a long shot. The Cayman (2021 GT4 excluded) is not, and never will be in the same class as the GT500, but the specs on my GT350 and my Cayman are fairly close.
The PDK becomes boring too quickly and too often. The Tremec NEVER becomes boring!
My take on this is that a manual gives you multiple acceleration events while getting up to speed, as where a DCT shifts so smooth and quick, that you feel one continuous acceleration until you let off once the desired speed is reached.
If my Cayman had the torque of the GT500, I may be singing a different tune. The GT4 is on my list.
Just my thoughts... everyone will have their own opinion (which is a good thing).

Hi Jeff. I know I already gave you my 2 cents the other day, but I will say this. You will never replace the desire to manually shift. That said, you will forget about it very quickly with this car. Everything else the others have mentioned is spot on (Especially Epiphany - God help us all).

Come on out to MA, and I'll let you experience it first hand before you pull the trigger.

The 500 is the best driving car I've had and it's very fun in manual mode. I wouldn't want it in a standard transmission after being able to really drive it with the DCT. I do miss having a standard sports car but I know it wouldn't compare to this at all. In terms of longevity I'm not sure but I know it'll be more expensive than a T56 repair lol

I have a 2020 GT350R and picked up a 2021 GT500 CFTP yesterday. I love the GT350R. Limited seat time in the GT500 but they drive like completely different cars except maybe the brakes. The brakes on both are amazing. Chassis feel a lot different. Transmissions of course. More to come.

On another note. We had a C8 Z51 HTC and we sold it. We liked it but didn’t love it. Visibility and the transmission. With the short time in the GT500 I think the calibration is much better. The C8 seems to always shifting gears. We replaced the C8 with a ZL1 vert with a 6 speed manual. Much more traditional convertible than the C8 HTC. Visibility is better and she prefers a stick.

Jury is still out but my gut is telling if I had to pick between the GT350R and GT500 - I think the R would go away. For now, I am keeping both. More seat time required.

D.

03 Cobra >> Gen 4 Viper >> '20 GT500. Don't miss the manual.

Would I turn down an additional GT350R in my garage? Of course not. But there is no way in hell I would sell the GT500 to get into one. Plain and simple. The DCT is that good.

As an aside, OP and completely subjective but...

No manual can make you grin like a Cheshire Cat and I'll bet I'm not alone in saying,

The DCT can.

From where I sit, that is quite a compliment. :=)

I like to disassemble things.
I've always enjoyed cars with a manual transmission including the '16 GT350, '09 GT500, numerous Fox chassis cars, and '67 Cougar I've owned. That said, I bought my '20 GT500 due to the engine, chassis, brakes, and DCT and am perfectly happy with the increased level of performance it offers over all the previous vehicles I have owned.

If the Dual clutch is boring, you're not driving fast enough.
I believe Wolvee nailed it...!!!
I have yet to track either of my vehicles, but I believe the track time would be a LOT of fun with the DCT.
My previous take on the two was for city driving.

2021 Dodge Challenger T/A 392 6 speed manual.
As someone who daily drives a 2021 manual t/a 392 challenger, I can tell you that at the 500 hp or so range that my car is I would much rather have the manual. I have driven the new ten speed 5.0 and honestly it’s uninspiring and somewhat boring in comparison, at least in my opinion.

That being said at the 700 to 800 hp range I would much rather have an auto and or a dct, the dct is obviously much better in terms of track performance.
