Speed phenom ran a 10.6 in a base model 500 with stock tires.
Keep in mind those Speed Phenom passes were made in December. These passes were at close to 3000DA in 82 degree weather. That makes a BIG difference on a boosted vehicle.

The proverbial air density discussion...and for air-breathing mochines, it is most assuredly important. If you live at or near sea level, take a trip to Colorado or La Paz, Bolivia. :-) It becomes clear very quickly. :-)

I like to disassemble things.
Bonus points for the use of "proverbial."

SP also had near perfect track prep, that counts for quite a bit.

Was you there?
He was not.
We know it was good prep because that track is known for it and Speed Phenom launched the car at max RPM and didn’t spin.

Right you are Serpent! That difference in the DA and the track temp. is at least .5 sec and it could be as much as a full sec. difference. I still want that R sitting you've got just sitting in the garage gathering dust. LOL.

Just for the record, a completely stock GT500 will never run faster then 10.3 unless Ford gives it a updated transmission file.

<smiling> DANG IT, KELLER! :-)

The fastest I've ever trapped was 12.6 in or about 1970 in a modded 340 'Cuda. I forget the trap speed but it wasn't any more impressive than the ET. :-)

(And, we didn't know diddly about serious drag racing..you know, street tars 'n all.) <grin> I think I had some MT's on aluminum wheels.)

Amazing how far we've come, huh when a bone stock, Detroit-produced vehicle can ONLY do 10.3?! <smile>

It is amazing what cars can do nowadays.
We get spoiled.
My 435hp GT seems kind of slow after 3 years.

I hear ya, brutha...and I easily remember when 435 was a TON of horses.
Hey 12.6 is fast in the 1/4 mile. Just because it’s not 10s or 9s doesn’t make it not fast. Anything over 100 mph in 1320 feet is fast, at least in my book.
