2020 was not the highest or lowest production number year for Rs... Looks like 2020 will be higher by at least 250 than 2016, which was 526. You assertion that they made less of other colors because they were less desirable or to make room for HEP-Rs doesn't really hold water.
The 2017 MY was by far the largest production year for the R model for the 5 regular production years with 942 examples produced with the 2016 MY being the lowest production year (sans the 2015 MY) with 526 cars produced therefore an increase of 416 R's year over year.

As far as the 2020 MY compared to the 2016 MY from a total R production standpoint, I suggest that you will find that the difference in overall production numbers between those 2 model years was only ~175 units.

Thanks for the English lesson.

Well... I DID look it up and there is a higher percentage of HEPR cars compared to any other color so I don't even know what to say to you. Rapid was 2nd...but it hardly matters because there are SO few Rs available, it's not even funny. Statistically, you have a better chance of seeing a HEPR ANYWHERE, not just Florida, as opposed to any other 2020 color. (final numbers arent out but I say this with the belief that Wimbledon was top produced color for Rs in 2020..)

and for $120k - I know that you understand that this was said with no realistic expectation that price would be achieved...but you've brought it up a couple of times now. Getting old.
Roger that. You are correct, and I have never denied your statement that the odds, by mere production numbers, are that you may “spot” a HEPR than any other 2020R color but demographics and whether those HEPRs have been sheltered in a collection matter much.

Glad to see you’re enjoying your IS R to value it that highly. I can thoroughly agree with you. It was the color I was looking to get before I was convinced to look for a HEPR. That color is gorgeous and sexy on the R.

$97,000 after buyer fee added and the car had 6,000 miles on it. Sounds like it did well to me.
No 88k was final price not hammer.

I’ve never seen Mecum post final numbers with fees, but if you say so. Still, not a wrapper car so can’t expect a lunar price.

My understanding was that "LR005" hammered for $80,000 and that the $88,000 was the OTD price and included the Buyers Premium and not the $97,000 that you are indicating.

With that being the case the consignor only netted $72,000 less all of his additional expenses for this very cool car which means he ended up with less than $70,000 on the sale of this car.

Not sure if the consignor had no idea of how to properly market a car at auction but for someone to accept a Lot Number that was just 14 cars before the end of the auction that day obviously did not help his or her cause.

Over 300 cars hit the block that day ahead of LR005 and suggest that this vehicle was a last minute addition to the auction and to net $72,000 for this HEP R was a disaster.

Very well bought and certainly not very well sold IMO.

It is standard practice for Mecum to include the Buyers Premium when listing their Sold Price.

I remember when I was on Mecum’s infonet in the early days I thought they always posted hammer prices. I guess I need to get up to speed with them. Sorry about that

It's a constant debate. Yes, a lot of the 2020 cars had the HEP package. But rarity does not equal value. Excess demand vs supply equals value.

Let's take the HEP R. An estimated 280 units is ridiculously low. Think about how few units that is. Is it way more than the 1 of 1 yellow with no stripes R from whatever year? Yes but there is a reason Ford only made one of those. Nobody wanted them then and the the demand is questionable now.

HEP cars are in high demand. The future is uncertain. 547 GNX's. 107 1993 Cobra R's. 250 1995 Cobra R's. 300 2000 Cobra R's. 280 units is soooo few. Add that it's the last of the mighty GT350 for now and it's got all the right pieces for big future value. I am betting over half are in the wrapper right now.
The more that are in the wrapper, the less they will be worth. People sell them. People get tired of them sitting there and they cash out. You'll see a bunch every year for sale. Attainable for a reasonable amount.
