I drove the car home from West Palm Beach, FL about 750 miles or so. First impressions were hard to decipher as the car was loaded down with all the extra goodies provided in the purchase. I did however drive through several rain down pours and THAT was no fun. These SC2’s no likey the rain, HOLY COW! Averaged 20.9 MPG on the trip home. Granted the car had about 200 lbs. of stuff loaded in the car to include me and my wife. Probably could have busted 21mpg. After getting home and unloaded the car, checked oil, tire pressures and I hit the road. NOW I felt the difference between a track Pack and the R. I hit a few twisties to warm her back up and to proper temp. Car felt planted and most definitely had more grip. I did launch from a dead stop and man do these tires grip. I am not one for dig runs but these tires GRIP!!!! Will have to re-learn how to launch with the R. Finally I hit my preferred driving route to get a better sense of the car. OH MY GOD!!! You most definitely feel the 140lbs or so difference in the car. The car is certainly quicker from a launch and faster, lighter on its feet. The response from the front end is much more pronounced then my TP. WOW! I had my TP set to FP track settings and I thought it was a rail car but the R just left me with a sore moth from the shit eating grin. WOW! No doubt the biggest difference is coming from the wheels/tires but it is also properly complimented by suspension differences and the weight between the two. At high speeds this car is planted and splitter, wing working together and like Pobst said in the MT head to head between the Zl1 and the R “that wing is doing something”. WoW folks!!! Just WOW!!! If you can get your hands on one, GET IT!!! Although I am opposed to ADM’s (I bought used for MSRP) I see why many are paying them. Lieberman also mentioned the mark-ups and said that people are paying them because “it’s worth it!” I do however disagree with his summation that “GT350 with a great engine” is all it has going for it. Having owned both a TP and now an R I can say that the TP hits about 8.8-9 out of 10 of the R but then again the R is past 11! LOL Any who! I still have more to learn and drive of the car. What a machine! I can only hope I have better luck with my R than I did with my TP. :amen::ford:
