I’m looking to spruce up the front wheel coating after a few track days. Anyone have a product or a method to tidy things up?

Thanks!

What's on the wheel break dust, the finish is damage, the question is vague.

I think the ceramic heat protection given the GT350R?

You would need to send them in to be refinished as far as I know.

Unless you are talking about something else, your post was quite vague.

Sorry guys, just looks like a lot of brake dust baked in. I’m going to take the wheels off today to give them a close look and deep cleaning. Just not sure if there is anything special to do for the ceramic coating to brighten it up.

Pretty dirty after being out yesterday on the track. 5 total track days since ownership in January. Looking deep into the barrel it looks like maybe a bit of flaking too.

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Someone posted that idea a couple of years ago and I gave it a try - it worked well.

Wow, that is pretty grimy! The rotors look near the end of life too. Try a magic eraser and/or some Dawn soap and water.

Looks like your wheel weights shifted. Might want to tend to that as well.

Yeah, those look pretty nasty. There are products out there that Boost the ceramic coating. It's actually called Booster. Clean them, if they're not to messed up boost them, let dry, and a good quality wax. Not some cheap spray on shit. Look at collinite.

Wait cross drilled rotors, those aren't for track...(sarcasm). The good news its on the inside of the barrel. As others have stated use the magic eraser and some elbow grease with dish washing liquid as that will remove the oils from the inside of the wheel. The outside (black) looks like it just needs a good cleaning with soap and water and maybe take some automotive wax to them. Also, its a good idea to do PMCS on the wheels after each track day.

Here's a before and after when cleaning with a majic eraser. I did not use the majic eraser on the front surface of the wheel. I didn't want to take the chance of light scuffs if the eraser was too abrasive. Only the inner barrel and on the ceramic coating. Bucket of warm water and majic eraser is all I used.

Sonax wheel cleaner plus helps. I then use a pressure washer but not too close or too focused or you WILL damage the ceramic...especially if you pressure wash a spot that is already compromised.

I saw Auto Fanatic use a steam cleaner on his, but it looks like the Magic Eraser does a nice job without the heat! Thanks for sharing this Tech Tip! 👍
