So what I’ve gotten from this thread is that when I’m tired of driving my pig of a race car around all the time I need to buy a BMW M series? 😎
lol kinda, they're two different animals completely. Most buddies of mine that have had M cars say my car is more fun because it's more drivers intense. The BMW removes a ton of that rip roar and snort out of it and just makes a finely tuned machine. It's like choosing between a scalpel or a kabar field knife for surgery lol

There's also a ton more supporting stuff that goes into BMW M cars. Drive one sometime, you'll never want to pay what they do but you'll understand instantly the difference... the M5 is still one of the fastest cars on some of the hardest tracks in the world and it's a 4 door sedan LOL the M4 and M5 truly are in a league of their own, but in comparison to a nicely built S550 Mustang dollar for dollar, the mustang takes it all day everyday.
What kind is money are we talking about for one of the M4 & M5 that you're referring to that are in a league of their own? $90k new? More? How about "gently used"?

Totally loving the analogy!

I wasn't talking about price at all, for the "league of their own" part . You can't even remotely compare it to the S4 or the other cars they compare them to. Too hard to get an apples to apples with them because they're so unique, more specifically the M5 not so much the M4. The M4 is still a 2 door but has everything the M5 has for configurable AWD and such. Really just beautiful feats of engineering

M4 is mid $80’s up to $150k+ for the comp CSL. M5’s are up from that

oh dude 100% times 10! i've raced with some of these guys (not real racing) and beat most of their track times when i finally got my car dialed in. also needed a 240sx guy to drive my car and show me HOW to drive it around the track HAHA but yeah man, after doing all my IRS stuff and adding 345s in the rear, my car is absolutely nuts now. still not easy to do it, but i took a 90degree turn onto adjacent street the other day at 45mph MAYBE 50mph not even tapping the brakes just hucked the wheel and man she just hooked and went right in, no sliding no drama. but there was certainly a little bit of settling out after the car was straight and the weight sloshed back into queue lol

If any of this wanted to actually do it right, we'd have Miatas.
That depends on what you mean by “do it right”.

If that’s affordable four-wheel racing, sure, but then why not shifter karts? I’d say that’s more fun than a Miata and it’s definitely less embarrassing…

They end up costing about the same. If you think getting your ass whipped by a 13 year old kid less embarrassing that driving the most popular car to race on the planet, then I guess?

If you want a manual a base M4 starts at $77k. There are starting to be some deals.

So the only way to drive a shifter kart is to get beat by a 13 year old…? No other way?

Any newer M anything will beat a stock gt350 lol.. they are kinda slow in a race, they are track cars not drag cars.

Those newer 2020+ BMW’s are crazy fast.

m3/m4 is 3800lbs and 500 hp
M5 is 4100 and 700hp lol.
