I am really wanting a thicker steering wheel. Not a fan of all the carbon fiber wheels I want an all leather or alcantara wheel. 2 questions. First is the GT350 and GT350R steering wheels thicker than a standard leather wheel? Second I am noticing that steering wheels are listed as 15-17 and 18+. What is the difference with them? Why will a 15-17 wheel not fit on my 18? Thanks

OEM GT350 wheel is not thick, which is one of the common complaints about it. Beith makes a good alternative. Just installed one. They make them for 18 as well as other MYs. Happy with it. https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/th...rbon-fiber-steering-wheel-review.79660/page-5

The GT350 wheel is most certainly a lot thicker than the stock leather wheel.

The difference between the '15 thru '17 and the 18+ is the button layout. it's switched left to right and the 18+ has the pony button.

Many aftermarket wheel makers will build one with whatever material you want. Personally I would go with regular and perforated leather. Some also can now add heat if your current wheel has that. As El said the differences between the 15’/17’ and 18+ make the older wheels unusable on your car.

This is a Beith (not mine).

So the air bag will actually work in a 15-17 wheel? The wheel structure looks the same to me in pictures I have seen. Not sure why I couldn't get a 15-17 wheel, swap all wiring and switches from my 18 wheel to it, and have it work. The earlier year wheels are cheaper for some reason.

'18 is a one off. 19+ is the same as 15-17. The wheel itself should not make a difference. The switches are different, but that has nothing to do with the wheel, which is symetrical.

I’m not sure of that. The 2015/17 airbag will definitely not work in an 18+ wheel and the airbag from an 18+ car will not work in the older 2015/17 cars. The GT350 is a little different. They went to the newer airbag before the EB & GT did. There was just a post about this a couple of weeks ago.

I installed the GT350 wheel today. Feels great. Same thickness as OEM leather wheel. That is a little disappointing but it feels way better than the leather

I have the GT350R wheel and it was noticeably thicker. I chose it because I love alcantara and it matches my GT350R seats and shift knob. :) I believe they're different because the controls are different and maybe the connectors?

The 18+ wheel is thicker than the 15-17' one. Yours looks great.
