Hi all,
Looking at purchasing a lead foot car in the near future. One of the cars I am looking at has some pretty severe wear on the steering wheel. Has anyone had creases like this and is there a fix? I know a new wheel is “just $750”, but I wanted to see if this one was salvageable. Thanks!

That's the problem with Alcantara. It does not like sweat, dirt, heat. You might be able to hit it with a steam gun and work some of the wrinkles out and hopefully as it dries it will tighten up a bit

I have never seen this... I have 5 years and 53,000 miles and zero wrinkles.

All I can see is this now:

I hope you find a way to fix it... replacement may be the best option!

I bet a good interior shop would be able to get those out.

What beach did you see me at!!
How do you like my wife's recycled skirt?
I simply safety pinned the bottom of the front and back together. It's breezy!

I've had mine since 2019 and it doesn't look anything like this. I'm also not very diligent when it comes to cleaning it. Maybe every 2-3 months at most and it still looks great (after I clean it with some Sonax). Perhaps this is more than just casual driving.

Stuff works great. Left side before, right side after.

I wear motorcycle gloves if I am going for extended rides just to prevent this

same here. I always wear gloves at the track and at any rally events.. especially when it is hot/muggy and I don't want the AC on.
That being said, the Sonax might work to revive it. Honestly, If mine ever gets crappy i'm going to get it recovered in leather. I don't really care for the Alcantara on the steering wheel. Not sure who made that decision.

From China, no doubt. Will last about 7 hours. LOL
not unless Fairway Ford is selling China parts with the “brand new OEM“ tagline in the auction…and they sold 146 of them, so I’m sure we would know by now 🥸

I trust zero sellers on Ebay after 1 bad experience LOL
lol, understood…never been anything but good for me. Heck, I have bought and sold at least a dozen cars there, sight unseen 😎
