Why are you buying the car sight unseen?
The car could be just fine but it is unusual to buy a car without looking at it.
Hope it works out okay.
Totally agree, there's a risk of buying a car sight unseen. These cars are not very common in my area and the closest ones tend to be a 3+ hour drive away. With work, I just don't have the time to commit to checking it out.

The sales guy will get back to me this morning with additional pictures of the tires. I'll post them up. :sunglasses:

Is it possible to have the dealership take the car to an inspection shop of your choice prior to purchase? That way you will at least have some piece of mind. Get them to include it in the price of the car.

Here are some pics of the rear and front tires. The rear tire looks pretty worn to me.

When I asked about tread depth, I got this text "3 30 seconds tread". Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe he meant 3/32.

Rear tire looks like it might have done some burnies, but nothing I’d be concerned about personally. They’re not great, but I wouldn’t call them bad either.

It's a 19 which means it has softer PSC2s than the previous PSS tires. So everyone with an 16-18 saying their tires lasted longer isn't comparing apples to apples. PSS should last longer, the compound is harder.

Have you seen pics of the tires? PSC2s wear fast, 4-6k miles to wear out isn't abnormal. Thing is, this dealer dude might not be used to performance cars and might think they're low on tread because he's used to looking at Fusions and Trucks all day and those tires come with way more depth.

Also everyone saying the dealer has to replace the tires - No they absolutely don't. They need to replace them if they are below the state safety inspection standards and that it. If you don't have state safety inspection, it's on you.
Carmax replaces tires because they're a national retailer and don't want liability on them, individual dealers can do whatever the hell they like within state laws, it's ON THE BUYER to inspect the vehicle.

Go SEE the car, drive it, inspect it, etc.
Use your best judgement, this isn't rocket science here.

*edit* after seeing pics...

Probably some mild burnouts or maybe mild track use. Nothing that'd make me walk on buying the car.

3/32 could be correct as you're supposed to measure toward the middle of the tire, so the shoulders could be more worn (though with regular alignment they should wear somewhat normally)
I think the PSC2s only come with like 5 or 6/32 to start with.

Look about as worn than my Cup2's with 6700 street miles on them but they seem ok. That bumper gap tho... 😬

Exactly! The Cup 2s on the 19+ and Rs look almost bald right from the start. If the salesman doesn't know what he is actually looking at he could easily be mistaken.
When I bought my PP2 new I had everyone from the tint installer to the exhaust shop tell me I needed new tires!

Tell him to give you a credit of $1000 for tires and be done with it. They obviously don’t know what the tires are or should look like. Use it your advantage.
@JR369 that stood out to me as well but I wonder if it’s really more camera issues than not.

I found another dealer willing to do $58k (msrp of $65k) on a brand new leftover 2019. I feel better purchasing sight unseen for something that's new.
Regardless of whichever you decide to go with I think you’ll be happy, and it’s your money so do what suits you and your emotions about the deal best.

Again, it never hurts to have boots on the ground looking either over for you.

Don’t ask @stanglife about dealer new dealer comforts.

There you go. Can you go look at it?
Story here of someone buying new and trailering to him, sight unseen. Car obviously had damage repair even though it was “new”.
Seriously, take a couple days off and go look at the car you want, you deserve it! There is more to life than work, there are GT350’s ;-)

Here in Austin I purchased my 2016 from here: Motion Classics.

At the time he had 2R's and my car. I would give Eric a call. All cars are kept inside a heated/cooled warehouses. He only shows by appointment only. Was great to work with. Even if you don't see one on the web sites he may have a few or may have a pointer to who does have one to sell.

Green caps means the tires are filled with nitrogen.
