Call around, compare pricing to Granger to get an idea of what their costs are. I imagine some dealers out there would be willing to make a few hundred over their cost, since it costs them nothing in the first place. I have no idea why they passed that in CA, but I buy mine through my TX address to get around it.

If that engine was actually likely to blow the warranty would not be $6k, it would be $16K
I know how warranties work.

Enough of them blow where people want the hand-holding. Most of them are going to be garage furniture anyway and will only get a couple thousand miles on them so they're even less likely to blow.

For reference, this would be my daily* (I drive about 3-4 days a week).

Waste of money. Enjoy your car. Insurance is some of the biggest scams going. If it's not a required policy, like liability, don't do it.

My 07, 2011 and 2015 Ford have all cost more in repairs then the ESP. So far my 2020 is below the cost of my ESP but this repair order that is currently open will get me close to breaking even.

I always buy them. However I do unseratand that the odds are not in one's favor.

My ESP was about $4,200 on my 18 gt350 for a 10yr/75k premium ESP. It will only take a couple repairs across the 10 years to break even.

Stop abusing your cars. 😉

I've had them in the past. I stopped since I do a lot of the work myself now. I have 4 cars. If I bought an ESP for everyone, I'm looking at $16k. I only put a few thousand miles a year on each of them. If I had one daily, I might buy one.

I bought the Flood Ford "8-year" (effectively 5-year) ESP Bumper-to-Bumper zero-deductible coverage when my '19 GT350 3-year factory bumper-to-bumper warranty expired. I don't normally buy warranties, but staring down the barrel at a $30K+ bill for an engine replacement on a car that I track regularly seemed like a reasonable thing to do. My factory warranty had already covered a transmission 5th gear synchro replacement, coolant block fitting repair and an A/C compressor replacement.

Since the extended warranty has come into force in 2022, it's paid for a second A/C Compressor, a new alternator, an alt. wiring harness to fix a broken wire and a headliner repair. Total benefit paid so far is around $3000, most of it labor. If this keeps up, it will clearly have been a good investment.

Have an eight year 40,000 mile on ESP my GT350 and it’s ending this November. I bought it in 2019 and paid around $1800 for the second highest coverage and have not had to use it (yet). I have 25,000 miles on my car. Was it a waste of money? No. I’ve had five years of peace of mind.

Yea, that's definitely a warranty situation.

Ya, that's where we differ. My 07 had almost 130k when I got rid of it in 2014. My 2015 had 70k when I got rid of it in 2022. My 2011 had 152k when I sold it in 2019. My 2020 has 92k so far.

Getting them at dealer cost helps.. but with the miles I put on, I definitely use them to my advantage.

Unless something major happens on my gt350, I'll probably lose on this one. 20k on it thus far, and only a couple minor things. Although I bought a premium ESP, I really wanted to make sure the motor/trans is covered.. so it's covered for 10 years, 75k. Oh and the AC compressor.

Yea. I hear you and that makes sense. If you're putting mileage on them it's a good thing to have. I had them on high mileage cars and the plans have paid off.
