IMO The Volkswagen VR6 (2.8, 2.9, 3.2) with a nice exhaust sounds incredible. Very different and not as nice as a Coyote, but still sounds good. 🤷‍♂️

LOL I just watched the GT and Ecoboost comparison over as "news" thread was surprised that GT only f3-4 seconds faster on the lap.

Even more interesting was the Miata that was not much slower in real world terms....and deemed most fun!

I had 2012 Volvo S60 I6 Turbo that's a majical motor like all I6.
I had a 59 volvo with a 1.4 ltr which my ex blew up. My neighbor and I rebuilt a 2.0 ltr 4 cylinder and installed it & that little car flew. Every time my ex drove it something got screwed up. Now I'm single and none of my cars blow up.

Haha .... '59 weighs nothing!
cool little car I wish I still had it. I had strange cars in the 70's 1st a 61 temptest4 cyl 3 speed on the floor ( wife burned the clutch she came in the house and told me the car was stuck in a hole the parking brake was on.) the 4 cyl was 1/2 of a 389 v8 so it was a slant 4. The second was the volvo
I think it was called a 544.Then my favorite a 1950 olds rrocket 88 had a v8 and a 4 speed automatic trans. I bought it for 400 pulled into a gas station to fill it up and the owner of the station offered me 2000 for it. After all those I got a 66 red GTO convertible that needed a wax job and a top. Only thing I didn't like was the 2 speed automatic. Somebody hit me from behind and Gieco totaled it on me and I didn't know enough at the time to argue the right way to get the right price for it. Years later I became an auto adjuster I had a claim where one of the alcoholics that we insured blasted a guy's 65 mustang. I get there and the guy is screaming at me that he is not accepting only 300 for his car. The car was perfect He had replaced both q

i had a 2016 v6 camaro as a rental and i actually liked the car and the sound. much more than i expected at least. certainly doesnt compare to the v8 but i was surprised at how much i liked it. i dont think i could bring myself to buying one, however. i just couldnt get a mustang/camaro/mopar without the v8.

I don't think the Barra would fit under the Mustang's hood. It's probably too tall and long. But if they tipped it over enough and redesigned the oiling system as necessary and made the hood longer, maybe it would work. But then IMO Ford should switch to an NA V10 instead. That would be awesome. Much better than a 6 cylinder.

This guy somehow made it fit, I didn’t watch the videos on it but I heard he successfully pulled off the swap. Had a GT350R, blew up the Voodoo, and decided The Barra was the way to go. It also blew up shortly after.

I rented a Jag F-Type with the 3.0 V6 while travelling last year.
Didn't sound as good as my Mustang but not bad, not bad at all.
My colleague at work traded his 2021 GT500 for a 2022 Jaguar F-Type R and let me tell you the specs on that thing are pretty mean for an AWD beast! Sound notwithstanding.

The current Ford GT is an EcoBoost 6 cylinder. That’s one of the best sounding 6 bangers I’ve ever heard… still not quite a V8 though.

6 cylinders can and do sound good in certain cars. I like the B58 (found in the 3.0L supra) motor from BMW or the GT3 from Porsche. But when the V8 is offered its hard to pass.

I had a 2015 3.7 Mustang and thought the sound was decent. (Much better than the Ecoboost.) With the windows up I think I actually prefer it slightly to the muffled Coyote exhaust note. With windows down there's no comparison, though. :)

There's just no way to make a V6 sound good. It will always sound like a V6.
I mean at least it's not a turbo 4... Some V6's sound pretty decent IMO, especially with a tasteful exhaust.

And flat 6s?

Flat 6 sounds ok when it revs to the moon, but at lower revs not so much.

I gotta admit that actually sounded good revving like that. Very surprising.

that's just not true.
This naturally aspirated v6 does sound pretty good and I also like the sound of the GTR. Its for sure one of the better sounding 6 cylinders.

I think the problem people have with 6 cylinders and 4 cylinders is the V8 sounds so much better. Its not necessarily they sound bad, but more so "always will sound like a V6".
