So how are you all mounting the rear plate to the car ? Ford provides a bracket, are you using it or not ?

My local Ford dealer told me the bracket is only for use for a front mount plate. For the rear, the plate simply bolts on through the holes, with self tapping screws. I thought it was weird that there were no threaded inserts for the mounting of the plate, makes me skeptical of ever removing it in case it strips the plastic of the bumper

LOL I was trying to figure out how to mount that bracket to the rear. I agree a plastic to metal connection is not ideal.

I got a 14x14" piece of felt from the fabric store and then cut it to size. Using spray adhesive, I attached it to the back of the plate. Then, I attached the plate to the car knowing that it would not scratch the paint.

I use automotive felt tape on the back of the plate to keep it from scratching. I then purchased a steel license plate surround and am painting it AG. I have done this on other cars and I really like the matching plate surround.

I just used some of the felt tabs you can buy to put on picture backs, furniture feet etc. Put them on back of plate at all corners, some along the outer edges of plate, and a couple in middle of plate. Then screwed plate to rear bumper with a clear plastic cover over top of it.
