Just another glaring example of you misleading our members with information that is totally inaccurate.
No, I think it's accurate.

I think the reason we are having this discussion lately Harry is the way you talk down to people. I have had lots, and I mean lots of people ask me via PM as why you are so condescending.

In this example, I wasn't going to let a non GT350 owner condescend a owner who was expressing his opinion about his 350 vs an R.

So do you still have the civic type R? Probably sold that too.

A little advice, start treating owners of the vehicles that this forum supports with a bit more respect.

My sincere apologies if I have offended any members along the way as that was never my intent.

As far as "I think it's accurate" comment regarding the R model VIN scenario, do yourself a favor and admit that you are wrong and let's move on.

let's move on.
Yes, let's.

We all don't always see things the same (and i mean more than me and you). We all have a right to our observations and opinions. I remember a long time ago, I made a similar comment as 525HRSE before I had my Rs, and you gave me the same treatment.

Moving on along.....

Electronic damper tuning and specific ABS tuning for the R is often overlooked as well as the fact that the dampers are actually a different part number from the standard 350. I guess you could buy the dampers and whatever components make up the ECU/Brains for the ABS/Dampers...and then do whatever you need to in order to code them in if required? But at that point, why?

I think 350R owners like being unique and 350 owners like to tell themselves they are just a few parts away from an R so the R is not relevant...but NO ONE, to my knowledge, has actually changed EVERY component on a non-R to match an R, accurately. Being that the majority of drivers aren't going to know the difference, trying to make a non-r into an R is just dumb.. SO we are left with what we all know in our hearts is true. An R is an R and a 350 is a 350. Not that there's anything wrong with that. ;)

No, I no longer have any skin in the game but I'm a huge R fan, obviously. It ruined me from buying any other modern performance car..so I refuse to do it.

I like to disassemble things.
If you bought an R or a non-R to use it to the potential the engineers gave you, none of this banter means a thing. You can always mix and match parts to get the car to do what you want it to do if needed. Or buy a bubble and let the next guy enjoy your girlfriend. Whatevs.

Rolled in late to this party...very interesting discussion among passionate enthusiasts.

I toiled with the cost difference and ultimately went with a straight 350 knowing full well that ditching those 35 lb wheels (made in CHINA) would be the easiest way to enhance the performance aspect. SoCal roads would not be friendly with CF wheels so the forged route gives me more peace of mind.

+1 on the res delete. Lordy did that wake up the snarl, crack and pop. Best mod yet (LTH x pipe).

Many people probably buy the R for the badge vice understanding exactly what the performance capability delta is (objectively vice materially). But I don't believe that makes them wrong as they have no intent on feeling >1 lat G at 140 mph or are looking to carry 2 more mph coming on to the straight.

Parts are parts and easily swapped; however, passion can't be quantified and the red badge (VIN?) can be more valuable to some than those 2 mph. Hell, BMW has been doing it for decades with the single letter "M". YMMV.

Question. Do we call a car that has been purchased by a dealer a 1 owner? I mean, maybe techincally, one official owner that isn't in buisness to sell cars - but in reality, 2 owners...the dealer being able to drive, move, store, wash...whatever, the way they see fit...and you don't really have that opportunity to "buy the seller not the car" because you really have no idea how the seller owned the car.
Yes, I'm anal.

Wouldn’t it be 3 owners?
If someone steals it from the factory, they would report it to the authorities as stolen property from the ones who it belonged to.
(Manufacturer-Dealer-Purchaser)

Useless food for thought.
