You can pretty much mod anything to do anything. We are talking factory performance.

Previous Corvette owner here (track and street) and was in line at MacMulkin (#2 Corvette dealer in the nation) for a new C8,. It's not a $60K car.. That is the base car with zero options and if you track the car at all you have to get the Z51 package (Magnaride is a must). Even with just the base 1LT trim package your looking at $71-72K+ with just Z51, magentic ride, competition seats, upgraded wheels (the stock ones are ugly), etc.

Let me just say I had my reservations about ordering a C8 because I love manual transmissions. So I was already second guessing myself. Then I went and sat in one in person. From some angles I really liked the car. From others, not so much. Just don't love the back half at all, and the visibility out the back is Camaro like. At that point I thought "man I really want blind spot monitoring in this thing".. Well that is 2LT trim. Now you are up closer to $80K. For a base Corvette (non-Z06/GS).

I cancelled my order. I have gone down the DCT/auto path before and get very bored with them, very quickly. I then went and test drove ZL1's, Z06, and GT350. The GT350 is just for me. It was love at first drive. Forget all the specs for a moment, and you realize just how incredible the GT350 is. The sound. My C7 with xpipe can't touch even a stock GT350. The manual gearbox (better than C7. Great brakes (good initial bite/pedal response). Great handling. I just knew right away, the car is very raw when it wants to be, but also very comfortable and versatile. Great sight lines, and even a back seat for my young girls (they love riding in the back).

I think the C8 will be a great car but GM really seems to be moving away from more of a raw drivers focused car. I paid $49K for my 2018 GT350 that had 1400 miles on the odometer and about 70% of the bumper to bumper and powertrain warranties left. I don't like to pay MSRP for sports cars (the depreciate a lot) and the C8 will be no exception. $80K+ after tax, etc for a car that might be worth high $50's in a few years was a tough pill to swallow for me.

Hard to see paying $60K for a 350 when you can buy a C8 for the same. The 10K difference to move up to the GT 500 might make sense given the extra 265hp. The C8 and GT500 both seem to be bargains for what you get but the 350 and ZL1 just make no sense anymore.

I now stand by my original statement. The 350 is now been officially crushed by both the C8 and the GT 500 no more guessing. Test show the C8 base can out perform the 350 easily and the GT 500 now has run 10.66 right from the showroom bone stock and has over 700 to the wheels. If you can afford a 350 you can afford another $150 a month to move up to a GT 500. Given the cost and performance There will be way more buyers for the C8 and GT 500 than the out dated under performing 350. I know I am going to now hear the manual no manual crap but at 700 to the wheels and 10 sec passes out of the box I think most will survive with both hands on the wheel. Oh I I forgot all the flat plain crap too more like flat plain slow.

Looks like depending on the straights the GT350R is still faster on a road coarse than the base GT500. You have to step up to a 95 grand CFTP to get a road coarse warrior GT500.

Depends on if you love automatic transmissions or not. Depends on if you like engines that can rev out. Depends on if you want back seats and a little head room.

Depends on it you want good visibility or not. The C8 is going to be even more of a bunker than the Camaro, from what I've read.

The GT350 will outperform the C8 base on the road course. I'm sure of it. The brakes and tires on that base model C8 won't hold up for lap after lap.

The GT350 is not a drag strip car. I agree if you want a drag strip car buy a Hellcat or a GT500 - or a ZL1 is good too.

I think the Voodoo is better than any pushrod engine. They are just dead when you drive them. Hopefully the C8 will get a decent engine at some point.

ZL1 1LE has gotten down to $62k, used market is even lower. Same with the GT350, used market is already in the 40s.
Id rather have any of the cars mentioned above over a riced out yellow mustang.

- Manual option
- More open cockpit / visibility
- Less convoluted ergonomics / interior design
- Far more interesting motor
- Rear "seats" in non-R model
- Better overall driver experience

Some of these may or may not apply to you personally, but they're perfectly valid reasons for some. If it's about just some objective performance metric like 0-60, sure, I guess, go buy the appliance you want.

The c7 outperformed the GT350, at the same price tag the guy with small kids will end up picking the car with the back seats

What you would rather own is really irrelevant to how all these cars perform and which one out performs another.

These for sure are all valid to small sets of buyers but overall the person buying a performance car is going to go with the latest and greatest and by far that is not a 350.

The person buying a performance car is going to buy what they prefer. I by far prefer the GT350 over anything with an automatic. I will never even consider a C8 unless they add a manual transmission.

The GT350 is entering the best time for buying now. There's plenty of supply so price negotiations are more possible. Also, there are used GT350s on the market for even cheaper prices.

I can't go to a local GM dealer and buy a C8. It might be another year before I can do that, thanks to the union. So, really NOBODY can buy a C8 yet. The C8 is still vapor.

As of today - no crushing is even possible.

But didnt even check the current and used prices of the GT350 and ZL1 (and ZL1 1LE)
Wouldnt be surprised if he got taken by a dealer for his GT. LOL
