why are people that cant afford a base C8, let-alone a gt350, or ever a gt500, talking about whats a better value? Go back to spicing up the ramen noodles, your not buying anything over the other; if you could, you wouldnt be driving base model mustang to begin with, especially the pre s550's. Poor people.. SMH
So exactly what kind of income or net worth is required to buy a base C8, GT350, or even a GT500? By your logic, Sam Walton's poor because he drove an old rusty F-150.

If the choice of cars is a function of income, try driving by junior enlisted barracks if you have access to military bases and take a look at a wide variety of cars in the parking lot.

That dude brings up how much money he has and how poor people drive base cars in quite a few threads. Everyone I have met that talked like him usually finances their cars for 84 months, but talk about how well off they are.

I say the more competition, the better. Iron sharpens iron and having the vette as the benchmark will make the Mustang better long term. If anything, it gives buyers leverage when dealers slap crazy markups on the GT500.

Your post that I responded to was not about price, it was the post of the 5.5 FPC that will shatter the GT350 is what you posted. The base C8 will shatter the GT350 if not the GT500. Just put price aside.
The GT350 owns the titles of having the largest displacement flat plane crank V8 and America's highest horsepower naturally aspirated V8.

If the C8 has a trim with the rumored 5.5 FPC, that will shatter the GT350's prestige for its world renowned Voodoo engine.

In my eyes it's what makes the car unique and hopefully will not be challenged.

The C8 is down to 3500 pounds? Blaqhole on an alt
No, it kinda is. Per the press release the dry weight is 3,366. Add fluids and gasoline and you’re right around 3,500 for curb weight.

I feel bad for all the 350 owners who thought they had something very special. Chevy just turned the 350 into the red headed step child.

I guess we will have to see. Blaqhole also said you have to spend 15k just to make a stock GT road worthy too so.

All this back and forth about dry weight and Lemans is funny. Who cares Chevy just bitch slapped Ford and Dodge by putting out a 60K super car.And the original post was about how the 350 has just become irrelevant. Time will tell how the GT 500 is effected. The only thing so for the GT 500 will be dealer add on will go away.everybody thinking these cars are going to be something special remember the dodge shelby's from the 80s. Nobody cared then and now they are not even mentioned. The price of the C8 is a huge game changer.

tbh I think gt500s are alot more special than base model vettes. This thing will be more common than civics in like a year.
The first part of your comment is a fair - reasonable minds could differ. The later is stupid, and pretty rich coming from a Mustang owner.

Everyone talking about 0-60 and forgetting about the backhalf? LOL whats even funnier is the comparison between a vette and mustang. I really dont understand that but oh well. The gt500 is going to be alot faster than the c8. 250hp is a ot of difference especially with both running DCT trans. Has no one sat down and thought why this car is so cheap? That was the first thing i thought of....why are other mid engine cars pricey? Where is this money being saved? Obviously Gm's trucks arent selling so cash flow is tough for GM right now. There is an old adage that keeps popping up in my head. Cheap, fast and reliable. Pick two cause you wont get the third.'
Id also bet on that ECU being locked up tighter than pickle jar....

So far for both cars we have the GT500 at mid-3 second 0-60 times and the C8 below 3-second 0-60 times. Since these are both stated and not realized, that is all we have to go on. If both are true, the C8 will crush the GT500. If Ford is sandbagging, the C8 will be crushed.
So one metric is "crushed"? That's silly.

Let's say the C8 is 0.1 - 0.2 seconds quicker 0-60, but the GT500 runs a 10.4 @ 135 and the C8 runs a 11.2 @ 122 , is it still "crushed"?

Side note: *~*crushed*~*, hahaha, CRUSHED, make sure to use "gapped" or "dragged" or whatever the current fuckwit-ism is to compare performance ... :D

OK, going diving, just got a quote notification so figured I'd follow up this morning ... we're here :D Enjoy your week :)

If any of you have read the original post it was that the 350 got crushed by the C8 not the GT500 it also will be effected by the C8 but that was not the original premise. Here is something I find very interesting All the talk about numbers which I find boring led me to do a little digging. I am currently looking to buy a 2003 Z06. My wife's father had one and she loved it He passed and the car was sold. She would like to have one. Just for shits and giggles I looked at the numbers for the 03 Z06 and a 350R. Not sure what all the excitement was about. 16 years ago the vette did 7.56 at Nurburring and the 350R did 7.32 so 16 years latter the mustang's top dog was 24 seconds faster and they are about even in the 1/4 mile. So I can go buy a 16 year old Z06 with 11,000 miles on it for $22,000 and basically hang with a 350R. That's even worse than the current situation. The other interesting thing I am seeing is all the 350 guys that just a week or two ago argued how great the 350 is are as quiet as a church mouse.
