This is a joke right ? Have you watched Le Mans at least once ? If you have, how did you miss all those Corvettes running in it ????
Overall?

It's not hard to fload a field, and get some wins. But, when you have two cars, and win overall, then you can start boasting.

When was the last time the GT won overall?

You're not saying GTs were faster than Prototypes, are you ?
I'm just allergic to nonsense rhetoric and throwing up pieces of info showing complete ignorance of motorsports. Corvettes have much larger racing heritage than GTs - with all respect to them.
Also GT != GT40s, but even if, still doesn't hold true.

And this thread is about GT350 vs. c8 anyway.
I don't understand the meltdown in the GT350 and GT500 circles on the C8.

Instead of being happy there's an affordable American supercar coming, everyone gets hung up on their beloved Pony cars being not so cool anymore.

Hate to say it but GM straight kicked Ford in the mouth with this. That under $60k price tag was a bombshell. People were speculating the car to be $80-$100k. The GT500 also lost its specialness before even hitting the showroom floors with having the DCT when GM put a DCT in a under $60k mid engine 500hp car.
I agree. A nicely optioned C8 Z51 will probably be low 70s. Then we have Ford only building 5,000 GT500s and all the d-bag dealers want a $20K ADM pushing the cars to nearly $100K (maybe more, maybe a little less if you're lucky). In calling around in my market, the GT500 is essentially impossible to get. So F that - I've moved on. The C8 has bitchslapped Ford and will be running down supercars costing 3 to 4 times as much. Assuming the C8 isn't plagued with problems (which might be a big if), I"m buying. GM finally got some balls (and a clue) and this is the car that will likely woo Gen-Xers like me, and others.

and 4300lb gt500 with fluids so !! GT500 needs 760 hp ...not to mentiion they wen 7 speed dsg vs 8 speed and there gear ratios in the DSG 7 speed are near identical to the old 6 speed ford auto of 2011-2014 with 4th being 1;1 .. this new GT500 is PURE RUBBISH!!!
If you think the GT500 is (rubbish), you are a dummy.

Really. I just optioned out a 132$k base Porsche 911 to 213k$ If you think GM is gonna give reasonably priced options for the C8 your dreaming.
I can picture options pushing the base price north of 100$k really fast. One more thing.. the base C8 probably won't be crushing the GT350's 7:32:17.

I wish I had some numbers but I don’t. I will tell you what I do know.

The these are 2 different classes of car.

One is a purpose built racecar. The other is a 2+2 that is based on a 5 year old design.

One is 3366lbs the other will most likely be over 4000(hope not). There is a reason ford didn’t release the weight at the debut.

C8 is 60k GT500 is 73k Plus I don’t think GM will limit supply thus no ADM after awhile.

C8 495 vs 760 (at 10hp per 100lbs this is more like 560 vs 760)

C8 0-60 under 3 seconds. GT500 mid 3 seconds.

From stop light to stop light the C8 will murder the GT500.

The C8 looks better in my opinion. Hell my 2018 looks better in my opinion.

So where are the wins going to come from? Couple tenths quick in the quarter? Same lap times? Is that really a win?

And then of course the real supercar will come out at some point.
Your 2018 looks better then a GT500.
The C8 corvette weighs 3366.
The earth must be flat also.

Hard to see paying $60K for a 350 when you can buy a C8 for the same. The 10K difference to move up to the GT 500 might make sense given the extra 265hp. The C8 and GT500 both seem to be bargains for what you get but the 350 and ZL1 just make no sense anymore.
The 350 and vette aren't in the same class:lipssealed:

Your 2018 looking better than the GT500 is pure personal preference. And your stop light to stop light analogy doesn’t apply because literally no one has posted testing of either, much less side by side. If you are such an acolyte of Garbage Motors all of the sudden, you might as well sell your 2018 before God’s gift to base models, the C8, comes out.

That’s why I try to always say “in my opinion”. It is my opinion, but have you ever heard of a manufacturer using an older model year car to make there top model. I completely understand why Ford did it, but come on man. Ford has to do better than this. I actually wanted to buy a GT500 if Adm died down.

Now I will have to buy the C8 if it’s not a disaster. Why? Chevy made a better car for less. They made something that turns heads. Chevy made something with tons of torque with a trans to back it up. Sure the GT500 will get you a lot 18 year old drooling boy looks but the C8 can catch you a real 42 year old soccer mom.

I have been around long enough to know how to win. Having the best looking soccer mom in the passenger seat does the trick.

42 year old soccer mom? Really has it come down to this?

Overall?

They've won lots of stages, and in different classes, but never the top overall win.I'm not slamming Corvettes. I'm just saying they've yet to get the top overall win. That's all. Besides, it really doesn't matter,

With the new C8.R running a FPC V8, it just might. Not sure they can build one into the top category though. I honestly don't know what the category requirements are.
