I'm looking for great driving roads in Ohio. Or roads really close to the border in surrounding states. Also any great places to stop that you wouldn't want to miss that are close to the road/route.

In the next couple weeks we are planning to take a couple days and do the Triple Nickle(Route 555) along with 26 and 536(supposedly Ohio's version of the Tail of the Dragon). I think I have it all planned out with some fun stops along the way. But wouldn't mind some recommendations there also if you have them.

just begs to driven full out. Gotta be safe though, but the windturbines at the west terminus make a great backdrop.

Lots of great roads down in the Hocking Hills area below Logan - 664, 374, and 180 in particular.

Southeastern Ohio is pretty good in general. If we're going on a vacation somewhere Southeast we just tell it to avoid freeways and it's likely to be a nice drive if you don't hit too many small towns.

Coshocton, Wayne, Holmes, Tuscarawas, and Muskingum all have great routes.

We drove the Triple Nickle/route 555 yesterday. We started in Zanesville. And drove all the way to the Ohio river. It was a fun ride. Has a little bit of everything. Lots of curves and a lot of ups and downs. Some of the uphill to downhill transitions feel sketchy. Mostly because you can't see for a second.

Today we drove route 26 from Marietta to route 800. The rain was moving in so we bailed and headed home. Route 26 was also a great ride. There are more open areas than 555. Less blind corners. And less of those over the hill blind spots. My wife enjoyed the scenery on 26 more than 555 also. Hopefully we can make another trip down to the area to drive a couple other roads soon.

I thought all the roads were in great condition. The gravel in the pics is just from the stops we made along the way.

Almost died on 555 10 years ago when a farm truck was coming up in the middle of the road on one of those blind hump back hills. Ended up going off the road on my KLR 650 and flipping in a field that was freshly plowed.
The truck did not stop and it took me a good hour to get recovered and dig 25 lbs of mud out of crack and crevice on the bike.
Was very sore and bruised but on long term damage.
I still cant speed on the blind hills and corners in my Mustang.
Got out of bikes a few years ago and will never go back.

We went out for a day ride today. From the Columbus area to Roscoe Village/Coshocton. Was a great day. We are in our late 30's. My wife liked the mix of driving and the tourism area at Roscoe Village.

Couple of the roads we drove

Ohio 62 from 161 to 36... Pretty boring road and a lot of traffic

Ohio 715 was a road I really enjoyed. I want to find a way to get back to drive both directions. The dam at one end was a great place for a break.

Ohio county road 24 from 60 to 83 was a fun road also. It would be amazing if he pavement was fresh. There was a lighthouse just off 24 that seems weird since there isn't any water close by.

Ohio 541 from 16 to 79 was a good road also. Nice pavement. More sweeping corners and faster speeds.

Ohio 79 from 514 to 16 I was told was a great road to drive but it was boring to us. My wife even fell asleep.

I've driven 555 and had a great time but my favourite little piece of Ohio asphalt is at Steam Corners...
