Did a graph of my Mustang shift points, and RPM drop per gear for the first 6 gears. It can finish the 1/4 mile in 6th gear by holding the RPM's a bit higher at the finish. Last time out was 138MPH in the 1/4 (3500 DA), but should be 140+ next time out. 8,000 RPM would be 144mph, so as long as I stay under that, I should be able to cross the line in 6th.

He has a Procharger so pretty sure he can pull that RPM vs stock engined car...

Stock shift point is 7400, but I seem to see 7500 consistently. I just don't want it to hit 7th on the strip. Procharger keeps adding more boost well past 7500. I may need 3.31's.

I'm curious to see what my car will do with 3.15's. I specifically went with them with future boost in mind.
I just graphed that out, it will hit 152 in 6th at 7500 RPM with 27.4" tires and 3.15 gears.

3.31 would be optimal for my setup, unless I could find some taller 19" drag radials. I really don't want to put a drag pack on it.

I will only run The One True Road Tire: The Michelin Pilot Sport 4S :giggle:

I wish they would make a 305/35/19.
I can't run Michelin's. The NT555RII Drag Radials tires barely hook enough on mine. 305/40/19 would be perfect for me. But no one seems to make those.

Why are you so worried about going into 7th? It's an automatic and a very fast shifting one at that, you won't lose any discernable amount of time with on more near instantaneous shift. With a manual and not power shifting, I can see wanting to stay in the lower gear and forgo an extra time consuming shift. Also you have a ton of power from the blower, so it's not like you're going to bog down and loose momentum by being at 6000rpm in 7th.

I say try it first before going with different gearing. See if it slows you down doing the extra shift.

I don't want the added stress on the clutches of being at 1:1 if possible.
