As a former active duty USAF member for 10 years, I’ve lived/driven on a lot of AF bases.

Speed limit through base housing was 15mph, main roads usually 25 mph. Security Police and base rules were not forgiving if you went through over... you didn’t get a fine instead you got reported to your first sgt and commander.

Military lifestyle also taught me to be considerate and conscientious, think of others before your self. (Service before self) and adhering to and enforcing standards. Adhere to rules and regulations and understand why they are in place and enforced.

I now live in a pretty nice master planned
housing community and I duly inform the ignorant when they come down my culdesac doing 40 mph in a 15 mph zone that they need to slow down.

My dash cams and house security cams pick up theirs shenanigans all the time.

The speeders are much a like in character and traits, their houses seem in disarray and there always seems to be chaos emitting from their house.

For those people, they seem oblivious to their surroundings and how they affect the lives of others. One such person almost t-boned me yesterday as I was pulling my GT/CS out of the driveway. Luckily I was driving slow anticipating the likes of this type.

I live on a dead end and they’re in the second to last house, yet 40 mph to them is acceptable. Child wasn’t in child seat and they existed the car yelling and actually left the car running by accident. Normal for this lot.

I spoke to them kindly and asked them to slow down. Three houses prior there is a family with two twin autistic little girls who often run into the street with out looking, along with a lot of other little kids who like to use their scooters in the streets.

I knew someone who hit a child once, it destroyed their life and they never drove again.

For those people I say, get your act together man, grow up, clean up the chaos in your life and stop putting me, my family,
lives of others and my property in danger.

< drop microphone - walk off stage > :)
Ah bravo to for thinking/acting as you do and thank you for your service :captain:. It is a shame that when people get behind the wheel a lot of them only think about themselves no matter the situation. A big chunk of them probably should not have a drivers license to begin with and the attitude only makes it worse. Until something tragic happens those folks will continue to put others in harms way. I would say self driving cars would take care of that, but not really sure that tech will be flawless while most of us are still around.

LEO: Someone complained about a Black Mustang ripping thru the neighborhood and if your doing that, you need to stop.

Me: Fair enough but I’m not ripping thru the neighborhood. My wife and daughters drive faster than I do in there Honda’s and Subaru’s. So who complained ?

LEO: I can’t tell you that. If they press charges then I’ll tell you.

Me: Well okay and have a great day
I've had the same thing happen. I had a bright yellow Escort ZX2 and living with my parents. Every day I'd drive my car to a train station to take the train to work. One day, while I was at work a LEO came to my parents house to complain about a yellow car speeding around the neighborhood. My mothers reply was "As my sons car is parted at a train station all day while he is working in the city I would be very impressed if his car was seen speeding anywhere unless it's been stolen. I suggest you have people verify plate numbers before taking reports about things and wasting my tax money and your time."

Sounds like someone should be watching their children better.

I literally, while doing 25 in a 25 had a father with his child step out from behind a van into the street forcing me to slam my brake. He then proceeded to yell at me for speeding. Never mind the fact he just walked out from a blind spot with a child. The average pedestrian has no idea if you are speeding or not. They just hear your car, or do something stupid themselves which somehow means you must have been going to fast.

Kids don’t even play outside anymore.

This is a ploy the traffic nazis always pull out in an argument. More people die in Toronto being shot in cars than kids killed in accidents.

They don’t walk to school anymore either. It’s a wonder us old farts ever made it out of childhood.

Signal as you pull into your driveway. The neighbours are watching. The snitch lines are operating. Be afraid! Be very, very afraid!

Ah, so now I’m the bad guy cause some woman yelled at me once.

And you never once rolled through a stop sign? Be honest? In the insurance industry you break the traffic law about 500 times before you get a ticket. We are all sinners dude! The ones that road rage over minor traffic rule violations are actually the most unsafe as they let their emotions get out of control...
You sound incredibly selfish and entitled. You stop for stop signs. Simple as that. I was almost hit by a car that ran a stop sign just a week ago. And no, I have never ran a stop sign.

The other day a few blocks away as my wife pulled through an intersection up to 25 mph an old lady walking on the sidewalk whipped out her camera phone and took a picture. I think she liked the black wheels.

Impressive you can remember every sign you've seen(or not seen and there for blown) in your life and if you've stopped at them.

Rolling stop and blowing the sign are 2 separate things, and should be treated as such. One is clearly paying 0 attention. And in my case has resulted in someone totaling a car of mine. The other is slowing down so you can process the intersection, anything that may or not enter it, and then completely stopping, if needed, or proceding safely.

To me case 1 shows blatant disregard for others on the road and a very potentially lethal danger. Case 2 if you can not roll at sub 5 MPH and be fully aware of your surroundings to tell if you need to 100% stop, other cars at intersection or people waiting to cross, you should NOT be on the road.

To me the fact we need to enforce complete stops just shows how many people in this country should not be driving at all. I'd fully back the idea of a drivers license to be retested every 4 years when you renew, and the tests to be MUCH harder than they are now. I also wish there were a way to tell if a person with suspended or terminated license were behind the wheel with harsher penalties for DUI's. I'd also like to see crackdowns on slow drivers in the left lane and lack of blinker usage. Meanwhile I see more cops worried about tint and loud sound/exhaust systems than road safety.

Didn't read all the posts, but in most states residential street speed limits are 25 mph. 30 mph is speeding. If your car is loud it'll make people think you're going even faster.

You know nothing about me really. I mention one time I rolled and not at speed but almost at a stop and this woman stops her car in the intersection to ball me out. Nobody else was around and these were just streets with houses on them and no main roads. So now I have become a guy punching though school zone stop signs with kids diving out of the way.

And of course you other guys have never ever rolled through a stop sign and I mean stopped - count to three - and then proceeded. I was once in traffic court and this guy told this bs story about counting to three before proceeding. Guess what? GUILTY! As in the judge didn’t believe any of it. Nobody drives for 45 years and never rolls through a stop. I would bet all of us have at one time gone through a stop sign in an area we didn’t know and never realized it.

I would respect an argument better if the other person did not set themselves up as Holier Than Thou and vilify the other. It gives you more credibility.

Here is a Real Life example. A well known TV and radio personality called Mike B who always said in his show you always respect woman. No means no. Never hit a woman. Always went on about this. He is now off the air for domestic and stalking his former girlfriend. He is a nice guy and back in the day was the Canadian late night host up here. I met him once as he rushed up to shake my hand when I was putting shows on TV and he was looking for work. And yet there he was in court on trial as the poster boy for all he preached about. So forgive me if I take issue with claims that someone always came to a complete stop at a stop sign in their entire life...

The cop cars have scanners that read license plates as they drive and flag problem cars.

Oh yes Mike fell from grace pretty damn fast.

I would bet everyone has rolled through a stop and probably unintentionally. I did years ago (20?) and got nailed for it.

I seelots of people in my neighborhood roll though stop signs and it makes me crazy as they are intentional - many times barely slowing down.

I stop every time since I got caught. Anyhow carry on

Believe it or not I met him at MetalWorks Studios while I was mastering an album. He was there doing voice overs for this real estate show called Housecapades. Anyway I was doing reality TV with musicians and he recognized me and said hi! He actually seems like a nice guy. But we all know what happened. This was 2006. I also spent an afternoon with the Barenaked Ladies on I think their last album, before things went south. If you are known in the media world and meet me - well - that’s it, you’re on the way out... :cwl:
