I picked up my car today. I test drove it before doing all the paperwork and everything was fine. On my drive back home from the dealer I get a CEL. It doesnt go away. I'm thinking they put crappy gas on it.

Last night I tried to hook up my old diy OBD2 interface to pull codes but I couldnt get it to work. Last time I used it was almost 10 years ago on my Sti and it worked great.
No mater, this morning the CEL was gone. Drove 20 miles to work and it is still off. I'll keep an eye on it...

I know the first couple times I drove mine, it was burning off a lot of stuff. Smell was quite bad. Perhaps this caused a sensor to trip. Glad to hear it resolved itself.

Your're right...It smells like it is burning some chemicals. Assembly lube, maybe?

It'll be offgassing a lot of stuff from the production line. Mold lubricants, sealants, oils, etc. Should be smell free after the first 1000 miles or so.

Mine did same. In fact, after first hard drive it returned for a bit. Mostly cleared up by 250 miles.

Burning-off will not throw a CEL, just be cautious and remember the catalytic problem a few of the cars were recalled on, I'm sure they've fixed them all, but to me a CEL requires the proper attention.

Good thinking... Too bad it didn't work.
