I wonder why Pennzoil doesn't make the Ultra Platinum in a 5w50.

Or 0w30, which I use :). I'd buy it over M1, since it's reportedly better. Does anybody know if PUP is a Group-III oil, like M1, or Group-IV? Just curious. Thx.

The Castrol gets good reviews on many sites also. There is probably nothing wrong with the Ford Motorcraft full synthetic but dang at $10 a quart, it is like buying a rare jewel.

And who makes it? I think it's Quaker State, so I prefer any of the other main companies (Mobil1, Castrol, Pennzoil) anyway, and cheaper to boot at Walmart :).

Which oil in this thread are you referring to? I will go out on a limb and assume Pennzoil, since one of its subsidiaries is Quaker State but I'm confused since you listed Pennzoil as one of your main companies in parenthesis.

Nothing confusing. It's like saying a VW is just like a Porsche, because they're owned by the same parent company. Pennzoil is the Porsche, and QS the VW :). And even then, just like with the cars, there are several Pennzoil synthetic oils, which PUP is the top dog (or the 911 Turbo S, to keep the same analogy. Ha ha).

Except for the part where you never said which oil you were talking about that belongs to Quaker State and you preferred the companies you named. I think we all can agree that the thread was initially about the Pennzoil. :)

Nothing confusing. It's like saying a VW is just like a Porsche, because they're owned by the same parent company. And same with Chevy and Cadillac. Pennzoil is better than QS.

I use M1 0/30 on all my cars. And until PUP is offered in that grade, will keep using it :).
