I used the Motorcraft product. slides in easily and fits perfect.

No brainer.

Original cabin filter still in my car. No smells, HVAC works as intended.

Question. Would you go seven years without changing you air or oil filter? No, you wouldn’t. You do not wait for a problem to do something. That’s called maintenance. I think you will be surprised should you decide to spend the $20 to replace it.

Surprised at what? Vehicles didn't have cabin filters for 50 years. The last one I swapped out looked and performed fine after 10 years.

Not saying I will never change it, but the car has never seen dusty/salty/tropical conditions.

I replaced mine when I first bought it. Used STP I think, something from autozone. I did have an issue with getting it to slide up into the place where it goes, it only went about halfway before it started to collapse from me pushing on it. I figured it was just because of the cheap aftermarket part and a fairly snug fit. Anyone come across this issue? I have replaced countless cabin filters and this is the first time I had one do this. I was going to get the K&N for the next time I replace it to see if it fit any better.
Yeah I had this problem too. Went back to oem for that reason. The problem is when it does that it creates a void/gap from being folded up making it basically useless lol
