Ok, I am actually tired of all the bad press caused by current and earlier drama queens bailing due to ticking and or rattle. Who has experienced actual engine failure on stock or aftermarket tuning?? Blown motors. No boost (supercharger, turbo, nitrous) scenarios please. It has been almost 2.5 years since gen3 coyote came out there has yet to be a dedicated thread for this horrible engine. ;).

So if you got it, post it up with pictures and real life service documentation. Most of these motors should be still under 3/36 and 5/60 powertrain warranty. Go...

I meant for this to be in the issues, repairs, warranty section. Please move if appropriate. ;).

I don't have many miles, but I beat on my car a good bit and it hasn't skipped a beat. Plenty of 150+ pulls. Everything about the car is better than my 2015.

All of my service documents are in a filing cabinet but I made a thread a while ago. I had a long lock replaced on my 19MY GT at around 1k miles due to camshaft damage. I wouldn't say it's related to the tick or rattle though.

I don't think any (or many) people are complaining or bailing due to this issue being catastrophic. I think people are complaining or bailing because it's an annoyance.

What @EFI said and most dont normally expect or appreciate their $45k+ sports car clanking around like a used work truck with high miles and no service history.

Well the fear porn from just this forum and YT has a lot people believing on other car forums that the motors are trash. The perception is real and most people do not use discernment nor sift through non-biased fact based information. The point of my thread was to show motors are not failing like all the misinformation and opinions were pointing too.

@Zinc03svt completely agree with that. Minimal out right failures and lots if emotion. All generation coyotes have death rates. Way back when it was the #8 cylinder failures etc.. ive always thought the boards make it seem worse than it is.

Zinc03svt,

I agreed with what you are doing. What I have noticed is there are far more happy Mustang owners than unhappy. It's just the unhappy ones that resurface over and over and over. Makes it seem there are more issues because the same people make the same noise in as many places as they can.

My 2018 has been awesome and I expect some minor engine noise from a high output, high revving, multi-fuel delivery engine.

My 180hp Hyundai had a noisy motor, my 290hp Acura has a noisy motor, my mustang is by far the loudest and almost double the power. Luckily the noise is only a minor inconvenience mostly hidden by the great exhaust note. 2k rattle since early on. Typewriter tick only twice I've heard and I listen for it. Almost 29k miles later of nonstop abuse and she runs like a champ. I notice the gt runs the best if I get on it more. Too much babying it and it starts to seem less smooth. Beat her like a $2 hooker and she rides like a dream all day.

my 2019 gt pp1 with 6800 miles had the motor replaced bone stock after the number 7 cylinder caved in. This is not uncommon at all, I have worked for ford for 14 years and have seen alot of 18+ coyotes with blown motors, you can find alot about it documented online if you dig in.

Lol. I bet you nearly all of those "blown motors" were replaced because of the typewriter tick. Ford eventually realized dealers were replacing engines for this non issue and put a stop to it with the TSB.

I'm not doubting you had a real failure, but they are very few and far between.

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by a caved in cylinder? Did the cylinder wall collapse?

We are well over 1000hp+ here on our 18, countless passes have been made at the track pushing the car to the extreme. We have not had any hiccups whatsoever at this point. We only have oil pump gears and sprocket done.. we have ran a best of 8.6 1/4 mile.. Gen2 has been known to be the strongest coyote but I would not hesitate to throw boost at the Gen3 if you do it properly. Send me a message if you have any questions. #teamlethal
