Im running a GR3Z-6010-F 5.2 block with stock sleeves, boss crank, h tuff rods, Manley extreme duty pistons. Its taking over 20 psi of boost and its making over 1000 wheel, holding up great! I have Frankenstein cnc ported heads but stock cams, I'm thinking about tossing a set of comp stage 3 in there, and maybe a pulley size or 2 down, should be in the 1100-1200 wheel range. I def recommend that block, its real nice for the money.

Thanks for the tidbits and insight. I agree, I'd definitely want to go with 12mm studs. Either Gen 1 or 3.
When sleeving a Gen 1 does it remedy the need to add cylinder supports that are factory cast into a Gen 3?
Thanks
Ken

I'm no expert, but I have read/seen on many occasions where sleeving is the much preferred method if one were to pick sleeves vs. supports.

My mistake. I thought gen 1 had no casting above and below the cylinders and that they revised it with the gen 2 as Well as the gen 3.

I assume he’s referencing these:

Yes sleeves remedy needing supports on gen1/2. You are correct but GEN1 and gen2 do not come with the support. You can add a support kit and be good for over 1000wheel. Also the gen3 doesn’t need the cylinder supports. There problem is the coating

I’ve read this opinion previouslY. Care to elaborate?

Why is that? Only way to support a Gen 3 is with sleeves I assume.
Because the gen3 is an open deck design as you can see.
